Have you set the book type so that your drive burns DVD+R DL as DVD-ROM?

hi i have a mooded xbox360 and i have 2 pioneer 110D drives i have been told they burn DL they were running on firware 1.12 march 2005 i trashed 10 verbitim discs trying to figure to burn a sucsessful game i have now updated my firmware to the latest version of 1.41 april 2006 should this make a difference to my games working or not? as i dont want to waste anymore disc there not cheap :(

Hi all I just got an XBOX 360 modded with XENO TOP GEAR and with Xtreme firmware flashed on the DVD. I have no idea which dvd it mounts (not yet) but I tried to switch it on yesterday for the first time and insert a copied game. I got the message that I have to update the firmware in order to play the game (Orange box)...I am afraid that if I do so I will then have to reflash the firmware in order to be able to play the game...
Eventually I will have to flash the firmware wiht a more updated one...
Does anyone know which firmware I should update the DVD to if I want to play the latest games? Or if I should just update the way the XBOX 360 interface tells me?
Sorry I am a complete noob with XBOXs....

I'm trying to patch Skate_NTSC_XBOX360-CCCLX.
When I chose the iso file it stays still for about 2 minutes then I get a long error which begins with "Error connection to the database"
It also says "login failed for user: SSMerger" theres alot more text but that's what makes sense to me, shall I write it all down or do you have any idea what's wrong? Anyone? :(
After I click OK from that error message it says "Blanked xbox360 video partition"
I do have .Net Framework 2!
Btw, do I have to change anything in my dvd burners settings when burning with CloneCD? I've never burned a DVD+DL before.

Hi All,
I am 55 years young and just bought a xbox 360, the only game that came with it was GOLF, and I dislike golf no offense to golfers. I went to my local video store to hire a game it was $6.50 per night. Man I could not even jump out of the darned plane and land without getting killed!
So I thought i would look into buying one it was over $100.00 I thought wow did they think I was rich? So I typed in a search and found this place to get help in burning my golf game to protect it from any damage ;-)
I could not get past GO, I placed it into my pc and was going to burn it and use that one, the only problem was that my pc did not recognize it!
Can someone help me start off what I need to do, I would really appreciate it a lot, I mean hold my hand because I am at a lose with what you are talking about, no offense.

I get that message all the time i know the exact one your on about,
its the one where the message takes up like the length of your computer screen isnt it.
Get it all the time, you can still patch games fine,
are you sure your game needs patching tho?
There hasnt been a release thats needed patching in a long time.
@chesszone
helping someone 40 years older sure does seem different,
so what are you asking?
are you wanting to know how to burn a 360 game?
or how 2 to make a copy of your golf game?

Thanks alot for that quick answer Josh, and yes, it's that error.
The release I downloaded is Skate_NTSC_XBOX360-CCCLX from Torrentleech, it comes with a map that's called "Security patches" so I guess I'm supposed to patch it? Although the .nfo file says "prepatched w/ included security files". What do you think?
Another question (please answer the first one too):
I just got my xbox360 with iXtreme in it, when I start it the first menu buzzes like hell, when I choose the next menu it gets abit less noisy, same with the next, and the next.. the last menu almost doesn't sound anything at all.. what could be wrong? It's only noisy in the xbox menus, not in games! And it's not the tv..
Also, I burned FIFA08 today and it works fine except that it's almost black and white.. it has some colors but it's waaaay less colorful than it shall be! What could be wrong here? Could it be my ypbpr connection that's wrong or something? I really doubt it's the burning that went wrong somehow, since all the game works perfectly fine except the colors! Maybe I should try the scart? Although I want hd :).

I need help with Burning Xbox 360 Games.
Use :
- Mad Dog MD-20xTLI Writer
- Clone CD
Im having problems burning some Xbox 360 Games. I downloaded it right and started to burn it with CloneCD. It starts burning then a Box pops up saying Writing to Mad Dog TF-DVDRW TSH652N Failed, then the dics ejects. This has happened to couple games but I do the same thing I do for other games and it works alright and also works on my 360. Anyone know how to help me ? Would appreciate it.

Hi Josh, yes it is to do with burning games, I was trying to be discreet! I am unsure as to what I need to be doing. Like I said I placed a game in my pc to burn and it would not recognize it!
A step by step process is what I need as I am new to this sort of thing.

How To Rip An Xbox 360 Game
The Samsung PC Drive Method
1. Make sure you have one of the compatible drives, i use the SH-D162C
2. Find and download the hacked firmware for the drive, its called KREON 0.81, there will be a read me with the file you download it, telling you how to install the new hacked firmware.
3. Download and install a programme called Schtrom360Xtract, im using v3.2
4. Now that you have the hacked firmware and right software you can rip the game, so go ahead and put the xbox 360 in your samsung drive.
5. Open Schtrom360Xtract.
6. Choose your SAMSUNG pc drive from the DVD-ROM TYPE drop down bar.
7. Choose where to save the file, under the IMAGE PATH drop down box.
8. Click Extract, dont change the TASK settings.
How To Burn A Xbox 360 Game With Xbox Backup Creator
Burning with the ISO .000 File ETC
1. Download and install Xbox Backup Creator V2.6
2. Open Xbox Backup Creator and put BLANK DVD+R DL DISK into burner.
3. Click the WRITE tab button.
4. Choose your DVD BURNER from the dropdown menu at the top of the XBC window.
5. Under XBOX ISO TYPE select XBOX 360 ISO.
6. Click the big START button.
7. In the new window that come up open your ISO or .000 file.
8. Wait for the burn to finish, if all goes well you'll have a nice playable Xbox 360 Game.
Burning With The .DVD File
1. Download and install Xbox Backup Creator V2.6
2. Open Xbox Backup Creator and put BLANK DVD+R DL DISK into burner.
3. Click the WRITE tab button.
4. Choose your DVD BURNER from the dropdown menu at the top of the XBC window.
5. Click the big START button.
6. In the new window that come up open your .DVD file.
7. Wait for the burn to finish, if all goes well you'll have a nice playable Xbox 360 Game.
Burning Recommendations:
Use Verbatim DVD+R DL Disks
Use Pioneer 112D PC Burner

oo Thxs, Save some money if I buy it. So the BK in it stands for black right ? Its the same as a regular 112D Right ? Why is it cheaper than the regular 112D If it is only different in color. o.o

Yes, BK stands for Black. Not sure why the black one is cheaper, but it save a few bucks. From what I read, the 112D works fine - just a newer version than the 111D. If I am incorrect, someone please correct me.
Question for board. Where can I find SS files? Brand new to burning Xbox 360 games.

You are 100% correct. To this day I do not understand why everybody loves the pioneer drive so much, any decent DVD+DL drive works just fine, bit setting to DVD-ROM is a bonus.
I havent looked for SS files in a LONG TIME, but I am looking. The sites that used to host files are now off line, but if I find something useful I will let you know :)

Ya I email this guy because I had a problem burning Xbox 360 games. He said its my burner because its not the new one or something. So I gotta get a New burner. Mines is the Mad Dog MD-20XTLI.
