I've been a member here for a really long time, and not once has there been a thread dedicated to the members showing off their systems. Show off your setup, lets get pics of your console and all of the awesome hardware mods you guys have going on. Not sure really how many people actually have many hardware mods, but if you do lets show them off. I'm going to be starting a build log for my system as I'm just about to take off and start redoing everything, so I'll have something to add later today!

Here's my last mod:

8)

But seriously, there is an old thread here which was started quite awhile back. I had even pm'd a mod, asking for a sticky, because I thought it'd be popular. But they said no.

no hw mods yet for me, would like to get a new case of some color or maybe the case that is UV reactive and glows in the dark that would be nice. that and a controller which has lights under all the buttons so they glow.. I would take pics of my regular xbox but i doubt anyone would be interested. all i did to it was put on a clear shell with the drive cover removed and one of those adapters(clear) added so u can see the disc spin and the laser shining thru the disc.

Just a couple pictures I already had uploaded of some past work. The second pic, the lights are actually uv. They're a real deep purple but my camera makes them look more bluish.

I also did uv on my elite rol with a fader.

very cool, nice sound effects at the end of the video also i give an 8.75 for that.

Can u send me a link to the types of LED you used for that? the ones installed in the 360 stock are from what i can tell 2 different sizes, one being super small and the other about 2.5x the size or so. are u using the smaller ones or the others...or something totally different?

just got two windows put into my case, painted the case black, and started to internalize my hard drive and realized i need a finer tip on my soldering iron. Ordered some 4" blue cathodes, and going to do a clear drive top mod pretty soon. still have to paint my faceplate in the same gloss black i did my system in, but since I'm going to be taking it all back apart my trim on my windows arent that great, but heres a pic of it.

EDIT
I guess I can show off my old system too, this one was a launch console, that is still working fine with xtreme 5.2 on live and not red ringed yet.

I used hot glue, which may prove to be a bad idea, I may not ever get that thing off again! But my cathodes will be here tomorrow so thats going to make it look a whole lot better!

I told my buddy i'd give him an xbox 360 if he helped me fix the transmission and replace the head on my car. Instead of giving him a plain xbox i decided to give him something a little different.

That's about it for the 360's. I have other pictures of xbox's and other things. I have never had a xbox returned to me except for a good cleaning.

If you have any questions or want any parts or good vendors for the parts just let me know.

awesome stuff dude! i have questions lol

Are u doing these mods to new systems and then selling or are you using used working systems or rrod units you have fixed? i am curious cause i met a guy with like 50+ rrod units and i want to get them and fix them all up and start seelling but i am only worried about rrod failures after i have done all the work only to have people complain they are breaking down a month later. it almost seems better to buy new units and mod them and sell them. I fixed one rrod unit and it lasted 3 months of my teenage newphew playing cod4 like 4-5 hours everyday.

edit also what type of led are u using for the controller mod. i know 0603 can be used for the ring dash button but what about the ABXY buttons? i have seen several tuts on this but some seem overly complicated than others. can u offer any advice?

You and bhetrick do some amazing stuff. I wish I could do as well on my hardware stuff as you guys do. I've gotten a lot better since i started when i started doing case mods on my original xbox's but some of the stuff you guys do is awesome.

Most of the systems i buy have the 0102 rrod error, freezing issue, or sticky tray.

I usually don't buy complete working systems unless the price is decent. If you follow llamma's tutorials and overheat the gpu you shouldn't get any consoles back (well at least for that error). I've sold consoles to different states so I thoroughly test the console before i ship it out.

Dec 2007 i had a premium stolen from me and in Febuary 2008 i had an elite stolen from me. In march 2008 i bought an elite brand new from best buy and it lasted maybe 3 months until it started to freeze. I got pissed off and modded the hell out of it. I use it every day for maybe 6-8 hours a day depending on what i have to do the next day. I've never had any problems with it since.

I think you misunderstood about how the controller lights up. 0603's are for the quadrant location leds. The lights that light up the buttons are included in the xcm controller kit.

Here's a picture of it

It's basically a board with leds added onto a controller shell. You only have to solder 3 wires to the controller for it to work.

Even i wouldn't go the llamma route to add leds to the controller. The xcm is a far better option and you can turn off the leds if you want. I usually have them off because it really kills battery life on the wireless controllers. While plugged into the play and charge cable i'll usually have the controller lit.

Hope this answered your questions.

*edit*

Mike look at this beast

Crystal clear limited edition console (Not sold in US)
-Custom Clear controllers with Blue leds
-5 5mm led array in dvd drive
-2 3mm led for front
-2 4 inch blue ccfl tubes
-1 80mm blue ccfl ring
-80mm firework fan
-Nvidia southbridge chip heatsink
-round ata/133 IDE Cable
-500 gig ata/133 16mb cache hard drive

I know i'm forgetting mods too

The controllers have maybe 12 smd leds in them and they jump around while plugged in. Only 2 are lit at once, it's hard to get a picture of them.

Awesome info here !

thats what i meant about the 0603 led for the dash button/quadrant.

The xcm kit u said contains a board with the leds already on it and u simply solder the 3 wires on the defualt board to power said leds correct? if so then does this kit fit into the standard 360 controller shell or is a aftermarket shell needed? seems very simple and easy to me, all the other tuts i have seen involved getting leds and running wires all over the place and drilling out the buttons to fit. i would rather get my solder skills up and use the 0603 for the quadrant and the xcm u have shown here.

As far as the rrod unit i have i already tried to rework the xlcamp fix i just applied new as5 and such. it worked for an hour and rrod again, so i was thinking of grinding down the standoffs in the metal case to make the board more level all across. i did overheat it for 20 mins when i did the rework, maybe that wasnt enuff.

Thanks again

here's more info for you for the standoffs, remember it only applies to the xenon trays.

If the rrod returns and is error 102 make sure to do the penny fix as well. 0102 isn't just a gpu error but an error in the digital backbone. It could be ram, could be gpu, could even be cpu. Make sure you explore every possiblity.

yes that is where i got the idea from, and it is a manufactured in 2005-2006 unit pretty sure its xenon as it has the 203w psu. i did the penny trick but i use erasers instead cut to about the same thinkness as 3 pennies. I always do the eraser trick and both CPU and GPU when i do a rrod unit. i figure it would be better to do them all at once than have to break it down 3 separate times eventually.

what about thatXCM led kit does it require a separate shell or can the stock controller shell be used?

Look around there for all your options.

I've never seen just a light kit so i would think you would have to buy a whole controller shell with it.

Here's the thread bhetrick is refering to

Is that the thread? I know there's one with mods, but I thought there were more mods.

Those first two pics in that thread shows one of XCM's controller shells lit up, like what C4RN1 posted up higher. It's actually a decent shell for the money. It comes with the light kit and the shell has a nice, velvety-rubber finish.

There's a few tut's around for lighting up the dome and buttons with the 3mm leds, but it really can be time consuming.

on a scale of 1-10 how hard is it to put LEDS in the hard drive case? I might do that instead of internalizing mine.

see stuff like that needs to be stickied so it doesnt get lost. there are far too many good informative threads and tuts that get posted here and they just slip by off into the mass of threads titles "omg i dont know what im doing please hold my hand even tho i havent put forth any effort yet"
