First off, I have ZERO music and movies on my hardrive. No lie. Absolutley ZERO...but I do have some porn.
I installed Peer Guardian and I've been noticing that "disney scanned" is coming up a lot more often than the others. I mean multiple times per second for minutes at a time. I'll get some IBM, TSP Bay, RIAA, and others every few hours(maybe 1 or 2 at a time) but disney seems to be all up in my face. Is this due to a system scan by them meaning they grab chunks of IP's and scan them often, or do they scan by ISP, or are they up to something?

I've never downloaded anything disney related and nothing but porn since last spring(not much though). Curious as to who "disney scanned" is and if anyone else is getting this many hits.

On a side note, is the porn industry cracking down on downloading or are they lying in wait to see how the RIAA/MPAA thing turns out?

Please respond:)

That's as an effective 'BUMP' as I've ever seen, a concise challenge for reply's...
Disney's all weird, you can never tell what they're gonna do. Your theory on the ip range scanning is the most likely thing that's happening, but repeated scanning for minutes is odd, but then again this is disney, the company who made the one dvd that managed to break windows, no other production dvd does this...
The porn thing, well if you are actively sharing gigs of illegal anything, then you can get in trouble, but I doubt that you will get much hassel from some pron empire, I can assure that they are not members of the mpaa, and most likely would really only prosecute a pirate site selling their content. Just an added side-note, I've read, but not personally experienced, that many porn dvd's do not come with css encryption or macrovision protection due to liscencing (read cost) problems; so if they are not actively protecting their content, its probable that they will leave you alone.

thanks for responding!!

two follow up questions...

1.) when the RIAA/MPAA/Disney/etc. scans you(PeerGuardian notices) are you only vunerable when using a P2P program(is this the only time they can see what you have on your puter?) or just connected to the internet in general?

2.) regarding your sig(msb5150), I have ZoneAlarmPro and have the ID lock on and activated which is supposed to block my IP address from being seen, why then can I see it through your sig? Is this only viewable to me or to you also? color me curious...

here's hoping for another response...

Sorry for the delay, im lazy about checking my posts. for the ip thing, i wrote a thread to answer questions about it here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/77353 that should explain it pretty well, and alleviate any worries, about that particular pic. Now the only way to hide your ip is to either use a large number of proxies, but you can still be traced by a dedicated foe with proxies, or to spoof your ip address. I know next to nothing on spoofing an ip, it might be illegal, i don't know. What it do know is that I used zonealarm and I know that it does not spoof your ip or use proxies, so it's ip blocking feature doesn't apply here (to be honest, im not really sure what that feature does)

Now, to the next question: when your computer is scanned, it is most likely done while kazaa is connected, as that is the only way I know that people have been caught throught scanning. So yes when they scan you whilst your kazaa account is connected they can retrieve the list of files that are in your shared folder. I suppose the easiest and best solution to this is to just move everything you don't want to be caught sharing to another folder. Uh, my train of thought derailed there, sorry if it got kinda confusing in the thick of the post, and again, sorry of the late response.
