Any of you Mac OS X guys had any luck either mounting, or just being able to copy files to a Playstation 2 Hard drive?

I have tried the Virtual PC route and everything doesn't work. -heh

I want to be able to put my backups on the HD to be run with HD advance 2.0

I know there is another place for PS2 stuff but everyone over there is PC!!!!!

Please help a guy out, thanks!

NO NEED TO SHOUT! Just load up dvd player and select "open VIDEO_TS folder", find your video_ts then hit play.

Hi

I am looking to switch to Mac, but before doing so need to assure myself I can replicate the DVD shrink/DVD Decrypter package I use in Windows.

I can honestly say I use these to back-up my existing DVDs for playing when on the road

I have read mediagurus very good discussion at the beginning of this thread, but still need to determine whether the MTR/DVD2ONEX solution does what I think it does.

If there is anyne on this forum with familiarity of both the DVD Shrink and MTR DVD2One package who could advise me of their experience, I would be most appreciative

In summary, I want to know whether the programs will allow me to:

rip the DVD to the hard drive, removing CSS and macrovision and region encoding
remove audio tracks and compress special features to fit on a single layer dvd
do as little compression as possible on the main movie

I still want to keep all the menus and special features, (not foreign soundtracks) I dont want to rip just the film

Thanks for any feedback

I don't think it matters what region it is from as long as you set a region.

Hi.

I cannot get my PS2 to play the DVD's I 've burned. My G4 plays them perfectly. but PS2 just clicks and whirrrs, then gives "Disc Read Error" message. I am using DVD-r as media. This is so frustrating...Any suggestions? Thanks!

Right. Well mine's pretty old (2001). I guess that might come into play. Would another media perhaps +R have a better chance, or is it time that I bought a proper DVD player for my TV? Thanks. (Great guide, BTW, MediaGuru.)

whenever you have playability issues the first thing to try is different media and burn speeds.

Hi, I'm new to burning dvd's on my mac and I wondered if anybody has any advice....

I use MTR to rip the DVD's, and then DVD Imager and Disk Utility to burn the drive which works fine, but I don't have a program that will compress large files down to fit on one DVD. I know you all recommend DVD2OneX, but I honestly can't afford the price. Can anybody recommend a freeware compressor?

If you do 2 or 3 dvd's, DVD2OneX will pay for itself. There really is no other decent option, especially that is free.

Hi

I was reading media gurus response to another post and went to the DVD2One site where it said

Program removes all extras and menus from the disc,

What if you dont want all the extras and menus removed? What if you just want to get rid of foreign sound tracks but leave eveything else as is, but with just enough compression to fit on a DVD=_5

Thanks

I think you´re blind, quote from the site:

"User can choose whether he/she wants to make a full copy of a DVD-Video disc, including the menus and extras or does he/she want to keep only the main movie and get rid of the menus and extras (and selected subtitles and audio tracks)."

You can also remove some audio tracs (but not the subs or any extras) if you use "full disc copy", e.g. get rid of some French or German 5.1 dub-tracks.

Just wanted to take the time to thank you all for this wonderful information. I had looked at attempting this before, but I hadn't wanted to pay for software (not my Mac), but this thread tipped me off to the Disk Utility, which combined with DVD_Imager1.2, is a real beauty. I've subsequently discovered that the Mac I'm using also Has Toast 6 Titanium, but I haven't tried that method yet. If it didn't sometimes take some time to load an img/dmg image file, I'd recommend it as a clean way to keep DVDs on hard drive. The DVD player believes a DVD is loaded, so you don't have to choose a TS folder.

I have tried to follow the guide at the beginning of the forum, but I can't seem to compress the files ripped from MTR. I am only using the trial version of DVD2OneX. Has anyone else had a problem using the trial version? When I select he VIDEO_TS file, nothing shows up and the start button doesn't light up. I know someone wrote something about it in the past, but never received a response. Any ideas?
Also, I know a lot of people have been asking about DVD - r and +r, is there one right way or wrong way to burn a dvd?

I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
