SUCCESS!

Using Wiizard's release (7.45Gb) of this title.

Wii: updated to 3.2U via internet
WiiKey: previously updated to 1.9g (to play SMG)

Burned image with ImgBurn 2.3.0.0 with the following settings:
Speed: 2.4x
Layer Break: 2084960 (manual)
Verification: none
Media: Memorex DVD+R DL

Popped the game in, let the update occur, played. Nothing special had to be done. My son's playing as we speak giggling to himself.

Cheers!

I just thought I'd check in.

NTSC-U 3.2 wii
wiikey 1.9g
After a couple failed friidump efforts I downloaded the wiizard rip. Extracted and burned to a Memorex DVD+R DL (all I had on hand) with imgburn at 2.4x. No layerbreak, no speical settings. Been playing for the last hour and everything seems to work. I'm about 10% through the SSE and have unlocked a couple characters through vs mode.

ok sorry if i mess anything up, but i've been researching on this process and i've got a solution that might help some... i have a wii with a d2ckey i've updated the system with the update from my original ssbb game. i used friidump 0.4.0 to back it up with my lg gdr8164b drive
the file size came out to 8,311,680 kb. i then burned it on my sony dl burner using imgburn i set the layer break to 2084960 and set it to burn on 1x speed with hp dl disks. i put it in the wii and it recognized it on the disk screen after it loaded it said darth was unlocked and then loaded to the main screen. i checked all options and it all works. if i wrote something that i wasn't supposed to i'm sorry i'm new to the forum thing but i felt compelled to help since i always look through this site for help. thanks for all the info

Successful WiiZARD burn here....

PAL Wii: 3.2E updated via internet
WiiKey: 1.9g

Burned image with ImgBurn 2.4.0.0 with the following settings:
Speed: 4x
Layer Break: ImgBurn Default settings (NOT manually adjusted)
Verification: none
Media: Unbranded DVD+R DL (Disc ID: RICOHJPN-D01-67)
Brickblocked with BrickBlocker v1.3R2 to remove US update.

Play tested and runs flawlessly, hope this helps someone, particularly PAL users.

Hey All,

I appreciate all the information in here, I went through nearly all of it and want to verify my problem. I have a D2c Wii with a D2ckey installed. I downloaded the correct image, it is the correct size, and I have burned it numerous ways. Tried with just disk utility in os x, used IMGBurn in windows using the .dvd file I came across on usenet, and also just manually entering the layer break. Each time (Tried all of them twice at 2.4x with Verbatim DVD+R DL) and I keep getting the basic error that says "unable to read the disc" with the question mark on the screen.

I'm really hoping I don't have the dirty lens issue that nintendo is correcting, does anyone have any ideas for me? Try new media? Thanks everyone.

Finally after 7 failed attempts and alot of reading i have found a process to burn the NTSC Dual Layer SSBB Iso for a PAL(UK) wii with a D2CKEY Chip updated to the latest firmware 3.2E via the internet.

After the modification to the ISO i burnt it with Imgburn at 1x speed without the layer break method- using the cheapest (Aone) dual layer DVD+R media.
As im not sure of your allowed to cut and paste from other forums, i will explain my process as follows:
*removed* which list a code (which apparently is illegal to post or make links to) so if you search in google for *what i posted to (badly fail to get around) posting a direct link you'll get a week's suspension* hint..hint..

Once youve hacked the ISO burn it to a Dual layer Disk: When your PAL (Wii) asks to update (allow it) Trust me it was the longest 15 seconds of my life: However the hack disables the update completely.(You dont need to do the 15sec trick).
Then the game will boot up and you can play: The whole games works perfectly and there were no flaws.

In addittion the link also works for the Wiikey as well.
Have fun...

Just thought I'd mention this. My Wii does not work with SSBB (also couldn't run metroid prime 3), all other games work though. However, when I used friidump 0.4.0 on the original disc, set imgburn to 2.4x with Verbatim DVD +R DL, the game now works. Apparently my Wii doesn't like the original disc for some reason, and will only run the backup. I am using a 1.9g Wiikey with NTSC 3.2U Wii

Edit: Just an explanation, I didn't really want to take the time to read through a 90 pages thread, so I looked at some of the starting and ending posts. At least I know now, I guess.

Confirmed working on:

Wii 3.1J D2Ckey
ISO brickblocked
Burned with Imgburn 2.4 on Verbatim DL with layer break at 2084960
Speed: Max

Have played Japanese version before, no update needed.

PSP 3.90-M33 update 2, Wii 3.1J-D2CKey

Have you not read any of the previous post?

The Wiikey is creating the issue with the retail version of SSBB. You need to install a switch or corrupt the Wiikey firmware in order for the retail version to work.

how much free hdd space do you have on your main drive? not enough scratch disk or cache space can cause failed burns...esp at that size.

as i understand it, this fault in imgburn is usually caused by your dvd dl media choice. try some Verbatim +R DL instead of the Ricohs...or Memorex since people are having such success with it.

Get the DVD+R DL...it has less issues with layer breaks, esp if you're trying to set your own.

If you have a pal wii maybe. If you have an NTSC-U console then I dont think so.

This may sound really stupid, but I'm having a really hard time trying to Corrupt my Wiikey. Either my Wiikey really isn't a Wiikey or it's just really good? Here are the steps I have taken so far to try to corrupt it.

1) Insert the 1.9b update version into the drive and start it up.

2) I let it read, and then let it stop the drive. Then I eject the disk before I press A to initiate Test Flash.

3) After test flash completes and is successful, I reinsert the disk and let it read then stop the drive again.

4) I eject the disk once again, and then press A to initiate the real update.

5) The red warning comes up, and when the update is at 70%, I unplug the power cord attached to my Wii first, then I unplug the power plug from the outlet.

6) I wait maybe a minute, plug the power cord back into the outlet, then the plug into the back of my Wii.

7) When I turn on the Wii, and press A past the black warning screen, the menu screen pops up but my Wii still reads back up games.

Is there any other way to corrupt the Wiikey or am I just out of luck? Thanks for your help.

Why should anyone post their results of the wiizard download?

Evidently you haven't read the 100 other past confirmed working wiizard download post. So why would we believe you would read future ones.

Have you installed the 1.9g update first?

If you originally have the 1.9b firmware and try corrupting with the 1.9b update trick it will not work.

You need to be at 1.9g firmware first then corrupt using the 70% 1.9b update trick.

finally completed subspace emissary, and unlocked everyone, with 97% completed. missing a few gold item boxes in a few levels, but it's nothing much.

i recommend completing subspace emissary over the special brawl trick. you get a feel for almost every character.

This may or may not have been answered, but this thread is ridiculously long and I don't know how to only search the thread for my answer.Trust me. I've been trying.

Has anyone burned the Wiizard SSBB successfully on a Mac using Disk Utility?

If so, do you do it the same as single layer .iso's or is there some special setting that I have to set it to?

Thanks
