Recently I bought a Playstation 2, version SCPH 50004

Since I also bought a lot of used (and old) games, I'm
planning on making a back-up of them all. Obviously I
need a modchip to play these back-ups.

So my question is, which modchip do I purchase? I know
there are a lot of these modchips out there, and that
some are better then others.

On a (reliable) webshop, I found these modchips:
Modbo 4.0
Modbo 750
Modbo 760

Can someone please give their opinion on which (does not
necessarily need to be any of the above) modchip to purchase?

Thanks in advance!

All modbo are generally the same, they differ in firmware version though. 1.93 being the newest... there is a 1.99 witch is some hacked firmware. But the modbo are all clones of the Matrix Infinity and runs their code.

Good more common chips are Crystal Chip, Matrix, DMS, and other ones I don't normally use. Personally I'd go with the crystal chip if you are planning to play online. DMS4 Pro (S.E.) if you are planning for a HDD install with PS2 games on it. All chips work for HDD but DMS Pro has the function built in to the firmware of their chip. However their chip is buggy and is quite expensive. Matrix chip are reliable.

Good chips normally use good components the word Actel on the chip usually is a clue.

If you want to go the cheap route I'd go with one of the modbo 4 (760 for certain slim) or duo3.
