First off, I spent now a shitload of time trying to get PSX backups working on my fatPS2. First I thought it would be enough to softmod it, by using Free MC Boot and the PSXLauncher Elf, but how I figured out after buying all the required stuff, it just works on v9 consoles or newer ones [yes dumbness, but at least I could play PS2 backups now ^_^]. But well, that's not what I want.
Here's a list of things I already own now, what will lead right to my questions:
Fat Playstation 2 -- pretty sure it's a v6 [scph-30004 r]
Free MC Boot with all useful Elf's like uLaunch -- YES
Slide Card Skills -- YES
PSX Trigger Disc -- Well, that's a little problem, I only got Tekken 2 (PAL) what got a pretty little TOC[Soundtrack] I guess, and a Demo disc (also PAL).
Action Replay MAX for PS2 -- Used it to install Free MC Boot, but I think it'll be useless to play PSX backups
Okay, so as I know that's not enough to play PSX backups on an PS2 console below version 9 but I have the option to get a original CD of Breaker Pro v1.1. I read that it is possible to play PSX backups with it, but I don't find any tutorial or comment that would me ensure 100% so I'm asking the specialists now:
[Q] Can I play PSX backups on an softmodded v5/6 Playstation 2 with Breaker Pro?
and if so -- Do I need a trigger disc, maybe especially with a big TOC, to run it through BP? anf if SO, must be the trigger disc the same region as the backup is? Or can I use a PAL trigger disc and run a NTSC backup with it?
The game I want to play most is Resident Evil 2 (NTSC)! The whole project is kinda for that one game. Maybe anyone has any information about that in relation to ps2's.
So, would be really thankful if anyone could help me with my questions or my project at all.
This forum was a BIIIIIIG help on the way from a normal-never played-PS2 to what it is now and what it's gonna be. So a big thanks already to everyone who made these great tutorials and threads on here, it helped a lot!
it would probably be better to get a old ps1 system and mod it with one of those cheap mm3/oldcrow/ONEchip chips. take a look at these these. only 3-4 dollars. if you have a PIC programer you can get one of those chips from radioshack and program it yourself. radioshack sold them for a little less than a dollar i think they're called 12c508 or 12c509 chips. never used breaker pro before so i cant really tell you how to use that but I know a lot of people that bought it and it seemed to work for them also i think for a fat console you may need a fliptop kinda like swapmagic.

Best regards, dopahansi
Heres a better one.
1. get a playstation 2 slim
2. take the cover off
3. solder the cd drive switch so its always on
4. get a codebreaker disk for ps one and one for ps2
