that is disc to disc also alot of compression.. i could have choosen a smaller disc to do instead of 7.7gb disc that needs 44% compression..lol

add: didn't see the 1.Z4 f/w... maybe I'm wrong. If you have issues with that f/w Rob you might do some searching on that. ;)

I read it only concerns bumping up the speed. Im happy with the 1.Z2 it gives my bitset, all I needed. Other than maybe playing with these TYG03s...I dont have a need in OVERSPEEDING my discs, :)
Though my firmware MIGHT address speed upgrades as well.
To delete, or not to delete. THAT is the question!

Hey Cincy what I found on my Liteys esp the 160's was to take the clear disk off the stacking rings of my disks and leave it in the drive for about aweek so it'd eject every time helps demagnetize the plate and gives the clearance back rather than using the clip or hitting the eject [over& over]. Now that's an interesting point. The drive tray on my 5yr old LG ripping drive constantly sticks, so much so that i usually smack it to open it. I have a few xboxes that do the same. I might try leaving a clear ring in each of them for a laugh, as they always eject fine if there's a disc in the tray. Wierd.
p.s. i know there's (fairly) easy fixes for stuff like this but i don't like dismantling pc's or drives.

Creaky I had 4 of the 160's do that the first 2 was like the 2nd month and 3rd month sent them back to the egg and they sent me 2 new ones after a few months they started doing the same thing also had a 101 or something like that reader did the same thing. These were in separate cases so knew it wasn't a problem with the install also the cases had my Benqs nd plexys in them. I took them apart, oiled and cleaned them and looked for any burrs on the drives even replaced the belt on one.Isearched high and low for a solutioneven did some custom grinding and butchering on one! Ran across an article on the liteys and some Benq [the 1620 if I remember right] that to use the spacer disk.Heck took care of it. Every once in awhile they'll start acting up and I'll throw the disk in again and their fine for another long run.Go Figure. Chris

Chris,
Thanks for the heads up on the sticky trays, I have 2 doing it now, a Benq and a Litey. They're both being evaluated by a 'highly trained tech'. Hopefully he reads this thread! LOL! ;D
RE: 1.Z4 for the 72xx's
I've read that there are some swapped MID procedures(?) that are a problem in addition to the screwed up speed-ups in the 1.Z3s. I've read Dee is pretty short of time right now, might be at or after the first of the year for the 1.Z4s.
I also have recently, gotten a 7200A. Just installed it yesturday and flashed to the 1.Z3. No burns yet.
Have also encountered some wierd scans, will post some soon.
I also have a iHAP 322 arriving shortly. To go into a Litey external enclosure. Hoping for some good things out of it!

Here's the first scan. A Verb2.4x-8x burned @ 4x on Optiarc 7200S 1.Z3, then scanned on a Lite-On LH-29A1H @ 4x:
Wouldn't scan past the layer break immediately after burning. Here's the first scan:
Same disc, 2nd scan on a Lite-On 20A1S after approx. 30 minutes(made it past the layer break this time):
(Scan coming, will edit when arrives)
OK-dokay,
Second scan, 30-45 minutes later. Same disc, scanned with Lite-On 20A1S @ 4x (different scanner):
3rd scan coming, back to the first scanner.
3rd Scan:
Each one better than the last.

Scan those DL at 2X the speed they were probably burned at. I scan a DL of TDK at 8X and it hung at layer break with 20A1S burned with 7200S. Choose scan speed of either 2.4X or 2.0X and scanned out to be an 93. Had a high error at end. But the rest was nice. The disc played perfectly the movie which is all I watched.

@garmoon,
I've had even more drastict results with other MIDs. I've had Ritek DLs initially scan virtually off the charts with a QS of 0 and later receive a QS of 90% or greater.
Agreed, the disc played fine.

Chris.
i really like the idea of that spacer. i might have to pull out the SH-S203Band put back the LH-18A1S and see if that fixes my problem..lol
well i ninstalled the drive. rebooted then installed 1.06bt fw.
just burnt a disc fine. doing hte scan now...
i have found with this drive it isnt as good a scanner as the 7200S and now where near as good as a the litey(as if it could be). once done scanning in the 7200A i will scan the same disc in the 7200S and post them along with a litey scan of the disc..
it was a 20x burn aswell. got up to 20.12x speed. on a 16x-r verb(non printable)

Hey garmoon, Have an anxiety attack yet? LOL. Well... I think its DEFINETELY safe to say these TYG03's of mine are EXCELLENT high speed burning discs! Though just for safe practice i'll back um off to 12x. Definetely for the litey. The liteys seen ALOT of discs. infact im purchasing a few things from the egg tonight. Goin for another terabyte drive baby! ehhh... but I think i'll pass my ide 500gb to my bro. anyway... here are the scans. :D
A bit higher jitter than im use to seeing, but im sure it'll play :)

Another 95. Why burn them-you'll score all 100s if you just keep them on your terabyte drives.

I have recieved a lot of help from this site before. Now, i need a refrsher. I have a slideshow created on Windows Moviemaker, but when I go to save not the file but save to my computer, it won't then allow me to both view it and hear the MP3 music that I put in the slideshow. Secondly, Nero gave me a trial version but the trial serial number they provied me came expired. Now I am stuck. I do have IMG Burn, but have never used it to burn a DVD. Does anyone know how?

TB drives are still to spendy. Dont get me wrong, I LOVE my FALS WD drive.
ive had scores of 70 and worse play. Are you teasing my goal for perfection? Man... I know that my discs arnt gonna end up perfect. I am sure that there are ways the industry could produce a perfect disc, a burner with a GOOD f/w, and calibration and badda bing. It really doesnt seem that impossible to me. Something tells me by the time they do perfect rec dyes, it will be the dawn of a new technology. But then, ive heard talks of upcoming optical discs, so it could be a while. Ever heard of Holographic versatile disc? VERY impressive! :D :D :D :D

I'm just messing with ya. All your scores seem to be 95s and so are mine. We are scanning with Litey 20A1H and me the S version. How many posts have you seen in all these pages scanned with this drive, that are higher than 95, not many. Try the same disc @ 2,4 8 16X and see the scores all over the place. As gm said, don't worry about me, I'm crazy! If you enjoy scanning discs by all means continue-if you ever ace one at 100, pm me, if I don't see it. LOL :)
@gm
Now what you talking about me being crazy! :p
They're coming to take me away ha ha, to the funny farm!

Well if you people don't know by now the "men in white coats" have picked up GARmoonY. ROFL... Something about scans driving him insane... hehehe. :P I'm about to do some "damage".... :P
This is why I'm NOT a fan of Ricoh or Ritek, just me I guess as some do have luck with these discs but NOT the GM... lol.
RICOHJPN R03 (Maxell 16x DVD+R)
IMGBURN 12X
iHAS120 L70F
I'll do another at 8x to see what happens but I'm afraid they can't handle anything over 8x. I've burned 100+ of the CMC MAG AM3 and MBIPG101 R05 discs and don't remember these sort of results at 12x or 8x.
Happy burning to all. :D

Here's some information on the Holographic Versatile Disc.

The article is a bit old, but they use them now in Medical for 3D imaging!

Me thinks that the GM is burning way too many chick flicks. Scientific research has shown that too much estrogen laden data run thru a burner can corrupt it. Try cleaning your drive with a copy of Pulp Fiction, Wanted or the latest Mummy picture. You'll be back to those great scans once again.

You know I thought the same thing and then I remembered that the only chick flick of late was some British flick and that's it. I can't imagine ONE film corrupting my little burners. ;) I'll run some MANLY films thru it to "clean" it out and see what happens then.. Oh and I'm trying a new f/w too.. hehee. :P
