Hi there, i came here a lot but this is the first time that i had the need to post for help.

I have 2 PS2 in home(1 FAT + 1 SLIM V14 with FMCB 1.8b MS, Ulaunchelf 4.38, SMS, Esr and Hdloader 0.8c) and my problem is to put HDD on them to preserve the laser...

1-In my PS2 FAT i know that i can use Network Adaptor, but it seems difficult, isn't it? Do I need to solder anything? Hdloader 0.8c would work here, right?

2- In my PS2 SLIM V14 i know that the only way to put an HDD on it is by usb. So what is the best to be done?! Best program to read games from the external HDD that can be easilly installed on MC? What is better USBExtreme or USBAdvance?

Hope that somebody can help!

Thank you.

On the fat, there is no soldering, and the hard drive install is very easy. You just slide the hard drive onto the network adapter, then slide them both into the back of the console together and tighten 2 screws...that is it! Use HDloader and fmcb. Not only does it save the laser, but it greatly reduces load times, and cuts noise if you get a quiet hard drive.

USBadvance is marginaly better than USBextreme...but neither has good compatability or performance. Games that don't allow you to skip cutscreens are painfull over USB. It realy isn't worth it for most of the games that work...and most games don't work. The only other option for a slim hard drive requires a lot of soldering and parts that you probably can't find anymore anyway. It would be a lot easier (and about the same price as the parts for the slimline) to pickup a used fat with a dead laser and a network adapter.
