My PS2 lasers are broken, and therefore I opted to use FMCB to play my games. I have a slim and a fat, the slim is partially broken (the disc reader either reads slow or stops loading, some games work though).
I heard you could solder a hard drive to it, but I do not know how to do it, and I seached google and found nothing, no chip to buy, no soldering technique, just one vague page on this site about someone buying a slim and it already having the drive inside here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/5/348187
It would be nice to do the same to the PS2 fat, because if a network adapter costs 50$ I might as well buy a video card and emulate the games. Any guides on either?
If you have a FAT you could by a network adapter to play from HDD drive.
On slim, the only model that supports hard disk drive is the first model after FAT, the 7000x series which have the connectors for HDD.
To connect the hard disk you need the solder the connector on motherboard.
The connector can be buyed from this site or Google it.

Thanks a lot. Oh my lord, the extension is more expensive than the PS2. At that price I would rather just emulate the blasted console. Thank you. My, what a ripoff!
I thought I would save money doing this myself, but my, was I wrong!
