I had no stability with my 2800. I just guessed the chip was already on a bad stepping. The sempron 3000 has a clock speed of what to begin with?

I was at 1.95V setting on the NF7, but the PSU was providing 1.87. When I was going for 2.7 (stable for 6 hours) I was pushing it at 2.05 - 2.1V PSU was seriously unbalanced, the -12V rail was at 10.8V, 12V was 11.00. +5 v was more like 4.5. Got a totally wierd error in prime - it told me 100 times that I had an illegal sum out.
MBM gave me 0.2 V swing in Vcore - not good.

Nice overclock Molks! that must have really pushed the limits. Did u do a mod to ur cpu to unlock the multi? if so can u give me a run down on what to do and whats the safest/best way to do so...my ram is seriously holding back my overclock. It won't pass 198 (398Mhz) so i think i need to mess with the multi...but like most 2800 bartons, mines locked. But great overclock man, i hope i can push my system to those extremes also once i have some descent ram.

That was with my mobile (as you know they are unlocked), with water cooling. I dont suggest doing that V core without good cooling. As for a mulitiplier unlocking this can become serious business. There are good sites about, Ive never tried (not a good enough chip) but if your up for some learnin' then by all means. Your chips that are limited by your FSB seem a good crop..

I have tried to unlock the multi on my barton and it didn't work, just gave me an error on the post screen saying "cpu unworkable", if ti does work i think it gives you access to the lower multi in the bios setup.... i'll see if i can find the link for you .....found it here you go http://www.lostcircuits.com/cpu/amd_unlock/ have fun ;)

Stop guys, lets not take out the motherboard and solder a new link... Tell y'a why, on an Nforce2 motherboard this is aleady done - no need to try this. Instead you have to look at the bridges on the cpu itself.

I have not heard much about the 2800M. I bet a 2500M would out clock it.

I have the 2800/333 Mobile. Bought from Newegg. It easily oc's to a 3200/400. So you know that the 2500 will get that, but will it be stable like my 2800M on stock cooling?

Hey everyone. I've been keeping up with this thread for a while and couldn't resist some opinions on how to properly OC my system. I'm nearly clueless but I think this can be very interesting. Here are my specs:
AMD Athlon XP 2900+ / 2.0 GHz
Ultra 1024MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz CL3 Memory (2 x 512MB)
Abit KV7-V Via Socket A ATX Mobo / Audio / AGP 8X/4X / 10/100 Ethernet LAN / USB 2.0 / Serial ATA
I'll get back to you on fan but i bought it seperately to fit the mobo+cpu needs
All my BIOS set ups are on default.

The mobile barton is the same chip as the 3200. Its just a better core, which is why a) you can underclock it on next to no volts and still run it b) why it will more successfully overclock. Running at the same speed and voltage as a 3200, it will perform and heat up the same.
