I feel your pain ericbee
I could not copy Spanglish using clone DVD and AnyDVD combo either.
It would give me the compression rate for the video and when I hit next to go to compression rate for the audio it would just hang at 0%
So I used an older copy of DVD Dycripter I had installed and that failed after a few minutes .. So I installed the latest DVD dycripter and then used Pinnicle INSTANT COPY to compress it and make image and back to DVD Dycripter to burn the image..Took me about three times as long as CLONE DVD takes with ANY DVD running in the background..(on a side note, ANY DVD said there was only 3 bad sectors.. NOT 5, so I am not real sure what is going on there) Anywho I got my back-up and all that counts.

I have a an account at a certain well known rental place and have had four of the spanglish disks so far , they lock up in my home dvd player , one was total black screen , but time still clicking away , This is not a Decryption problem and its not a software problem , These Disks Are bad ...... The Rental Place said they are getting told by numberous renters that they dont play right ....... a few will play threw , but not all ...... Now past that to copying one I was able to mostly copy it with the bad sectors in it with Super DVD Copy , but ALL the disks so far have had bad sectors in them causing CRC errors and such.... so they will probably have to recall this disk, all the errors I got were around 36-37% DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 errored as well as shrink 3.2 Super DVD Copy 2.28 , Always use the newest Software when Decrypting as many have said. But anyone who has this movie done should look at the time 1h12m20s into it and see if it plays without glitch to 1h13m10s because thats where it messes up on the Retail DVD when being played

I bought this movie this morning. It played fine on my stand alone players. I made a copy, and put away the original. I never have a problem. DVD Decrypter. Free, why use anything else. Burn to an external hard drive. The only program I run to burn Decryptor is [God forbid] Roxio DVD Copy. Not Roxio 7.5. It will allow you to copy just the movie. Super easy, 1 click. Burn, cach only if necessary.
In 15 minutes you will have a perfect copy. Use Nero disc copy, to make subsequent discs. I don't know why, but this has worked for me for 8 months, and never, I repeat never, have I had a problem. One other thing, I use only Ritek, or Verbatum media. I always burn a + disc. All my stand alone players are Sony's. They advertise that the will play + or - R & RW, and without fail, play my copies without a hitch
I'm sure I'll get lots of flack from this posting, but it works, WITHOUT FAIL, for me.
By the way, when you download the latest version of decrypter from this web site, don't forget to make a donation.

There is only so much they can do to discs before they become un-playable in the existing players.
Quote: I did want to add also that I own this movie as well and the one that don?t play in my DVD player is the Retail version I bought at Wal-Mart.
There seems to be a lot more bad original pressings going around as well,If it don't play or rip take it back for another.

wbfconst you arent a newbie, you are a genius. Why couldnt we have thought about using the very latest decrypter and then burning it?
Mustn't be anything wrong with the pressings or any other software, just use decrypter and check for new updates every 3 hours..brilliant!!

Ok This movie was released Yesterday and These Disks were unblemished Never played before..... Not some rental from months ago, we are talking about Spanglish., And The one I bought at walmart was brand new today....... and the second one I got from walmart was brand new today... I used the latest Copy of DVD Decrypter as said before. Quote: There seems to be a lot more bad original pressings going around as well,If it don't play or rip take it back for another.
Of course I took it back , it didnt play at all. it was black screen and thats it. the second one played but it froze up at 1h 12m 24s exactly ....... I belive this is where the dual layer change might be taking effect and possibly where the error in the dvd is.......... Not just on mine but plenty others as well.Quote: 2 cents

Scrating my head wondering why you would even come to this kind of forum if you never have a problem ?? And I also want to say , As before , there were alot of bad ones , I didnt say all of them were bad ..... This Thread was started becasue others had trouble with it also. Others that used DVD Decryter 3.5.4.0.... this disk just has some bad pressing out there. OK , Now to clarify a few things , My Stand alone DVD Player is a Phillips DVP-642 with #37 firmware..... My Burners are two NEC 3520A's and One Lite-On SOHW-1673S However I dont belive the media has much to do with it as it never got that far., The Freeze and the black screen could be seen on all my DVD Player and burners. I use three differant computers one for each burner , and only one software on each for ripping. If it requires shrink afterwards then I shrink it via network to the computer with DVD shrink on it. I have nearly a tetrabyte of Storage on my network to deal with movies and such. I use Nero 6.6.0.8 Ultra To burn with.Quote: anyone who has this movie done should look at the time 1h12m20s into it and see if it plays without glitch to 1h13m10s because thats where it messes up on the Retail DVD when being played
This is the Spot that needs checked, it will jump threw just a little of the movie, if you arent watching for it, you might not even notice it, you have to watch the time on the DVD Player. I hope you all understand I am just telling you what my experiance with this movie is and hope that it helps.

And you will have no issues with your method creaky thanks to this thread. However, if you do get a bad pressing of the disc then no software will help you so again, thanks to this thread, you will also be aware of that issue as well.

sure, i see an increase of posts re bad discs or protections or all sorts of similar problems. All of which i'm well aware of, but got my beady eyes open at all times :)
I must be just lucky as in 500ish films i've not suffered anything other than one cracked retail disc and the new protections (got round all so far).

Wow...everyone is freaking about this movie. The bottom line is this! IT IS just a standard arcoss protection! It might be a slightly different version of arcoss but it is arocos. How can I tell? Well as soon as the movie in shrink hits 36% of the initial scan when the movie turns on right to the opening of the movie it fails. I was using an older version of AnyDVD. It hit a new bad sector protection. As soon as i updated to a newer version of AnyDVD...poor..worked...burned with dvdshrink good to go.

I spoke to my local BB manager and 2 other local shops where I rent..
Not a single disc has been reported to not play so, the bad pressing issue may be very limited in nature..or not?

This may...may get me kicked off the forum for saying this. And that is ok becuase I love the forum but I would rather help then not. There is alot ...alot of people using an older hacked version of AnyDVD. It is the first version I think that came out 2 months ago that does include the first acrcoss cracks. I do not use this! I bought my version so let me make that clear. However I have many friends who can't copy spanglish becuase they found on the web the hacked version. Spanglish is proteceted by a never version of arcoss that is only beaten with AnyDVD...but it must be the latest version if you goes this route. Any older version will not work... i hope no one gets mad about what i said but I would rather tell a truth then beat around the bush.

For those using the newest dvddecryptor and getting the new dvds to copy over, are you using AnyDVD as well? I tried an older version, along with DVD Shrink, and nada. got error popups, so I gave up for now, since my AnyDVD trial is up. so does the newest dvddecryptor work by itself, followed by DVD Shrink? That would make things alot simpler. thanks.

I too had problems with Spanglish.
My error read "bad disc sector 12/0" using DVD X Copy and DVD XCopy Xpress from 321 Studios (the old versions that had the ability to copy copyrighted material).
I haven't had problems with other DVD's, and I have burned a signifigant #, using DVD X Copy software and I also tried on two different machines.
I tried DVDX Platinum from X software with DVD43Free running in the background which is the decrytion software they recomend and had the same problem with the bad disc sector.
I think they might have new encryption and possilby some programs are more up to date than others.
I will try the programs that others have said worked and report back.

What I did was:
1st: Upgraded everything I had so...DVD Decrypter, AnyDVD.
2nd: Open AnyDVD in the background, use DVD Decrypter as your compressing tool. It should work and bypass the Dummy Sectors. (Make a folder: "Spanglish" or whatever you want to call it and save it in there
3rd: Use DVD Shrink to compress the "Spanglish folder" because when it inserted the dummy sectors, it made the file 7.30 GB, which we all know is too large for the normal capacity of a regular DVD-R. MAKE SURE YOU CREATE A SEPERATE FOLDER "SPANGLISH 2" WHEN U USE DVD Shrink.
4th: DVD Shrink, compresses the 7.3GB file into a smaller 4.30 GB somewhere around there. So now, open CLONEDVD2 and it should be able to work. Movie works perfect
Summary: Basically you need to compress it more then one time. IF you get this method to work.

@DimOfSum - you don't need to compress it twice, you ended up with a 7odd Gig file as you ripped ALL files to disc with Decrypter, THEN used Shrink to squash it.

Yeah what creaky said. Decrypter isn't a compression tool at all it is simply a DVD ripper/ ISO writer.
I guess I would have to question your method? You have AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 so why not just do the whole process in ClonDVD2? Much faster and better quality?
