I downloaded a movie in divix format and used Virtual Dub and Tmpgenc to make it into mpeg. When I tried to burn it to a CD-RW it will freeze up and I only get part of the movie. I have tried Easy CD Creator 5, Nero, and Fireburner to copy. All of these sofwares do the same thing. I did make the movie into 2 parts so it would fit on 2 disks. Am I doing something wrong? Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

did you view the full movie before you burned it or ran some check on it, and was it okay before burning? does it always freeze at the same place or different places?

It played fine before burning it and It did always freeze in the same area. I was burning it on a CDRW. I tried it on a CDR and it wrote fine. For some reason it must not write on a CDRW for me.

I tried to copy a CD today and had freeze ups again. Out of 15 attempts to burn something I've only succeeded 6 times. I am burning disk at once.

try burning at slower speeds, 4x is a good speed for burning.. 2x possibly may be better for CD-RW instead of CD-R.

I have been burning at 4x when it freezes up. I don't seem to know what can be causing this.

I may have just missed this, but did you mean freeze during burning or during play?

It will freeze during the burn stage. I have tried to use Easy CD creator 5, Nero, Fireburner Ect... All will freeze on me. Could it be a problem with my Windows XP. I was using Win 98 before with no problems.

does it only freeze with vcd or with any burn? is there an error message?

Do you have programs running in the background or are you doing anything else at the same time?

What are you pc specs?

It was freezing in all burns. I had to change my drives around and fix a few things and finally got it to work fine right now. Fingers crossed. Thanks for all who replied.

sorry for the late reply, been busy..

you might want to watch out, usually this starts happening when a CD-RW drive is nearing the end of it's life.

It was a new drive but one of my cables were bad. I just switched them out and everything works.
