Is there a way i can play a burned ps2 game without any modchips, swap disk or a game shark.
Can someone tell what i need to do to play a burned ps2 game. I have a dvd burner and dvd decrypter. What steps do i need to do to start playing copied games on my ps2 slim line.

I think the question should be,
When will we be able to make ps2 disks with bad sectors, just like originals?
Someone with hardware knowledge could write a bios program which forced the burner to make bad sectors. If the disk was otherwise untoched the burning software could write the data files and know which sectors were bad. It would make a temp file a physical map of the bad sectors on the disk being copied. The bios would create a physical copy of the original disk.

PS2 games are actually pressed DVD/CD discs, they are not burned. PS2 games use the Burst Cutting Area (BCA) of the disc to identify themselves to the PS2 unit. The BCA is not part of a disc that you can burn on, it is only replicated on pressed discs.

So, the only way to play backups is to get boot-discs or a mod-chip.

There are NO Bad sectors on Ps2 games.
They have no Encryption either for that matter.

That was informative, even so if companies can make the disks so can the consumers. Just because it has not been done dosent mean its not possible. Its all about getting the right disks.

Here is a little passage I found.

Burst Cutting Area. This is a rarely used feature described in Annex K of the DVD physical specification that provides a bar code that is individually written to replicated DVDs in the area (22.3mm +0.0/-0.4mm and 23.5mm +/-0.5mm) inside of the lead-in area. The BCA is created by a very powerful laser (Nd:YAG or CO2) that burns and darkens the aluminum or other reflective metal layer in the center of the bonded DVD. These marks have decreased reflectivity. The marks are stripes, roughly 10 microns wide by 1200 microns long. Discs can be given unique codes in this way. The unique code could be used for copy protection or serialization systems. This code contains up to 188 bytes. Players read the BCA by rotating at a constant angular velocity (1440 rpm), moving the optical pickup to the BCA area, focusing on the information surface, and using a special decoding circuit (decoding the much lower frequency barcode signal than a normal DVD HF signal). The marks are detected as a drop-out in the HF signal. Because there is no player specification, support for reading BCA is not mandatory. There is, however, a requirement for DVD-ROM drives to support the Mount Fuji specification, which includes a provision to read BCA info within the "read disc info" command. With the exception of the ill-fated DIVX format, DVD Video players do not read BCA. There are a few DVD manufacturers equipped to write BCA on replicated discs.

You would need a DVD press to create them,
And they cost about 300,000-500,000 dollars.

It would be best to keep 'reality' in mind.
Without a modchip or boot discs,
Your not going to be able to use backups.

So please stop filling peoples heads with mumbo-jumbo.
That simply is not possible beacuse of the BCA on the ps2 games.
Unless you are filthy rich and have half-a mil to drop on ps2 backups,
But if that was the case you wouldnt even need to make backups.

No if you want top play backups get swap magic disks
or a mod-chip.

Without one of these its simply not possible.
A lot of people read this forums, I like no keep
everything correct and current.

It is very much possible,
But not without one of the above.

These dudes are telling it how it is bro, you must either get a "MODCHIP" or get that "swap magic", i dont think there is a DIY way to make games work on ya ps2, there is probally a way that you can pull ya ps2 apart and connect sum wires together, but.. i highly doubt it, dude just save ya money and get a modchip, all u hav to do is just put the burnt game in and press reset!!, nothing else, unlike that silly "swapmagic", it cost me $160 for the chip and installment, now i can download snes roms, and play em on my ps2..(its not illegal is it?, i own the actual games.....)

why is swap magic silly? it plays every game a mod chip will play and without the bonus of voiding your sony warrenty

and some mod chips need boot discs anyway, so that kinda defeats the object

swap magic is a very good product and does everything it needs to do, and its alot cheaper than a mod chip

Swapping is cool.
Everyone is doing it.
Come on you know you want to try it.

(Now i guess I sound like a drug dealer.)

I like that better than cop or $ony employee..

But seriously I use swap magic with a fliptop.

The best Modchips are
1)-matrix infinity
2)-dms4pro chip.

(these are the only modchips playing dvd9 backups)

i have ordered from www.clearxbox.com
My order arrived in 4 days,
Everythinh worked as they said it would.

I would get swapmagic disks its cheaper,
But if you got the money the dms4pro chip.

is there any reason why the dms is better than the matrix mod chip?

its newer and there are a lot of Matrix clones out right now,
You cant upgrade the bios and if you do on a fake MODBO chip.
Its fries the board.
I wouldnt take the chance myself.

What is the BIOS?

The BIOS is a piece of software that is permanently stored in a chip on the motherboard. When you first turn on the ps2, the BIOS program is initiated. It performs a hardware check and makes sure that certain crucial pieces of hardware are present and functioning properly

Why would you need to flash (upgrade) the BIOS?

The most popular reasons that cause people to flash the BIOS are
Support for newer games dvd9 DL games .
