Hey, it's I again the ranting lunatic!
A thought has occured to me... why not take the code from dvdd and add a secondary to it? Say a learning program that would seek any source limiting or disabling dvdd from cracking the encryption? This would force the "man" to either give up (yeah, right) or to spend even more to create a completely new encryption for us to hack through. Should I be saying this? Who knows, I'm sure we're all watched in these forums.
I personally don't read or write code, but I've a feeling that someone out there who does shares my feelings.
Oh well, in a perfect world we wouldn't need forums to discuss the dimise of a program that was never needed.

You can make that simplistic comment in regard to just about anything. AnyDVD will probably be around as long as movies are put on DVDs. As for the $40, thats only equivalent to the price of two movies. Not that much at all.

They appear to be trying to solve the German Version of Closer. If you need a copy of that version then you might want to download this "beta".

Quote: Please try this beta version. Let me know, if it fixes your problems:
http://update.slysoft.com/SetupAnyDVD5241.exe
5.2.4.1, 2005 06 10
- New: Added support for a new version of the "Sony ARccOS
protection" as found on "Closer" R2 (UK, German, Italian)
to the option to remove "Protection based on unreadable
Sectors" (it should really work now).
- Fix: If AnyDVD was disabled, the "no drive" dialog could
be displayed.
- Fix: If AnyDVD was first disabled and then enabled within
the settings dialog, disc changes were no longer correctly
detected.
- Fix: Bug which could prevent correct backup of early Arccos
protected titles, e.g. Wrestlemania 3 (UK)
- Some minor fixes and improvements

I have seen the PSL files for the Dutch and Italian versions of Closer but have not seen them for the UK version, but your right I am going to have to do some studying up on creating PSL files :~)

Anyone know what language DVDDecrypter is written is(my guess is C++) and a good disassembler for that language?

I would imagine C++, not sure though. As for the 'Closer' movie, the latest decrypter handles that without any problem, no psl lists needed.

In reference to AnyDVD being used now with Decrypter this is a post from Olli developer of CloneDVD/CD that was posted on CDFreaks
Quote: DVDDecrypter is a fine program, and even if it isn't developed any further, it will not dissolve because of that.
What will likely happen, is that very soon protections will be published, that DVDDecrypter can't bypass (already happened with "Closer" Region 2).
Although AnyDVD doesn't understand this new protection, I expect an update very soon (AnyDVD is actively developed).
If you combine DVDDecrypter with AnyDVD and let AnyDVD handle the decrypting and deprotection, DVDDecrypter can be used for copying and burning for a long time.... (at least until I get the layer break issues fixed in CloneDVD )
Setting Elby I/O in Decrypter will make sure, that AnyDVD is used. You can use SPTI as well, but you should avoid ASPI. ElbyCDIO is good, stable, runs on non Administrative accounts and is written by me.
Disabling the "structural protection removal" in Decrypter will make sure, that Decrypter won't touch the magic AnyDVD has already done.

It is more than likely a ripoff, just someone trying to cash in. Doom9 has attributed the demise to Macrovision, but I will wait and see what further news comes out over the next few weeks. As you say only time will tell :~)

Seems like a fake to me, i dont really think the real Lightning had any 'development' team or 'programmers' as he called it. I believe this is setup by whomever is trying to capitalize off his hard work, could even possibly be the ppl who were going to sue him.

Well i checked into the owner of the domain and its registered to a Bjarne Lundgren in Denmark. According to my records of donations to decrypter, payment was sent to a Richard Bradbrook, so go figure...

I agree with all the above statements! Of course there is the small possibilty that he is using a different name! Though I doubt it!
Has anyone tried emailing lightning UK?

Since his email addy was at decrypter.com I doubt if it would go anywhere, and I am not sure who is now on the receiving end of that site.

I took a double take when I read DVD Decryptor was no longer being developed. It is a sad time when a tool is lost to all due to greed of a few.

What are the copywrite laws like in Denmark? Could possibly be a smart move to another location to continue work. I guess only time will tell.
