Hi There.
I`ve worked my way through quite a lot of pages now. Finally I landed here.
I had installed DVDShrink and my couldn`t burn any CDs/DVDs after that. So I deinstalled it again, but that didn`t help.

Your Nero is a little old and needs updating...try 6.6.0.18 here:

Nero's own InCD package steps all over it's own toes, remove Nero in it's entirety from your system and reinstall omitting the InCD packet.
Use the General clean tool, Registry checker and driver cleantool and the Nero 6 clean tool...Use all 3 and then reinstall.

after all of this the problem was the disks but after going through all of the eeprom stuff and reseting the learnt media and all. my dvd writer will no longer recognize my burnt dvd+r's is there anyway that i can make it recognise them again. i reupdated the firmwarte reset learnt media back to the original and still nothing. One error after another this time.

Which discs aren't recognized, the newly burnt discs or the ones that were burnt before you switched media? If it the old brand, then you may never be able to recover the data that is on them...chalk it up to a lesson learned about quality media.

You are attempting to burn too close to the edge of the disc, set your target size in Recode or DVD Shrink (whichever you use) to 4300.

EVERYONE LISTEN up, i have been reading a lot of what people are typing and all i have to say is, are you guys using MEMOREX 16X???? because if so theres ur problem!!! i was wondering why all my other dvds worked except memorex, but this dvd only works with my other computer (a memorex DVD-RW drive)

I've heard some things about Kodak discs, but all that really needs to be said is that they aren't making them anymore...try some Verbatim (MIJ or MIT) or Taiyo Yuden, Sony, Fuji, Maxell (MIJ). You could also try to bring your burn speed up to 4X. Burning too slow can sometimes give errors the same as burning too fast.
Firmware is up to date, solid version of Nero...I think a simple media switch will cure your woes.

I have been reading through this forum for a while trying to fix it up and all though the help has been fantastic it has not ultimately helped but i made a call to a friend at the lo0cal pc shop to ask his opinion and he gave me some advice that worked nbow i dont have a problem and it has to do with Nero.
first of all uninstall Nero fully then from there download RegScrupXP install and run fully then fix all of the problems after that has finished restart your pc and reinstall Nero. once done that try it again i know it worked for me and 3 other computers i am working on so it cant hurt to try.

Glad you got it sorted and sorry my advice to you was a bit spotty. Many members who help at AD suggest running a registry cleaner when uninstalling Nero but I usually don't. Now perhaps I will start suggesting the same. Thanks for the info.

your advice was far from spotty but yeah a simple thing like doing a registry clean was the be all and end all to illegal disk. But i did not think that it would be so easy in the end. But you did a great job directing people to fixing this problem so dont count yourself out on that regard. Cheers mate. h3x3n
