I see this has been discussed in here before, but I'm now stuck with it. Trying to create a data DVD disc - copying WAV files only to DVD-R disc's. After caching, it dies. Below is the log from Nero of the session, and below that is a log of disc indentifier (I'm using Sony DVD-R and the latest 'Ultra' version of Nero):

HELP! TIA

@hackedoff -

other than your DMA being off, which cougar_ii has just pointed out, the burner's firmware is up to date, so all that's left to suggest is for you to try better media..

There is a newer firmware version V1.72 here.

http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Firmware/SingleModel.aspx?DriveId=745

Might try that to start

Also:
Quote:
Nero Version: 6.6.0.13
You could update to 6.6.0.18

Note: verify the drive manufacturer before upgrading firmware. It looks like the latest for your particular drive may be V1.0A.

There is a list of recomended media at:

Thxs, firmware upgrade worked like a charm.

I found version 1.0C and it seems to work.

Hello,
I've got problem with the "Illegal Disk" in Nero 6. My TEAC DVD-writer has latest firmware, I already burned some DVDs without problems. Now I use Verbatim media. I can burn on Verbatim CD-R ok but using Verbatim DVD-R gives me this error. I've studied this and thread and others and tried all the hints (including DMA reset) but with no success. Do you really think I just got bad Verbatim media packet?

Hi there,

Your Nero version is outdated, it doesn't recognise your drive properly.

Latest v6 Nero is v6.6.0.18
or upgrade to v7.0.1.2

You do have the latest firmware on your drive, so I would try to upgrade Nero.

These are Packet Writting drivers from Roxio, if you really don't use Direct CD, or whatever they call it now, get rid of it.

They will cause you more problems that pleasure !

Thanks for hints guys!
However, still no success.
I got rid of those Roxio drivers, updated Nero for 6.6.0.18, but the problem is still the same. Here is the log file for unsuccessful DVD write:

Do you think I really have to upgrade to v7 of Nero? Or should I try another burning sw (like DeepBurner)?
If you find anything interesting in the log files, please let me know. And thanks for the help anyway, it is great to have this chance of sharing experience!

(ps Nero 7 won't make any difference here i don't think, as your burner is already sufficiently catered for in Nero 6..)

- 4459MB is burning too close to outer edge of discs. If you use DVD Shrink, set target size to 4300MB in Shrink's preferences thus avoiding outer edge and not sacrificing much space

Im having the same problem. First NeroInfo said there was no system ASPI, I did ASPI update, it said it was corrupted so i used ForceASPI and that seemed to do the trick in that department, but it didnt change the error. Also when i try to update the firmware it says "Target NEC ND-2500A is not found correctly." Please help me. THANK YOU SOO MUCH.

Nero Version: 6.6.0.6
- too old, update to latest 6.x version, 6.6.0.18 (Update-Package 1) from here - http://www.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php

Physical memory : 253MB (260080kB)
Free physical memory: 98MB (100840kB)
Memory in use : 61 %
- 512MB is what i consider the minimum for dvd work. you should get more memory, and for now you're gonna have to dig deep to close down as much as you can to free up more memory

Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB)
Last address to be written: 2250367 (500:04.67, 4395MB)
- 4395MB is burning too close to outer edge of discs. If you use DVD Shrink, set target size to 4300MB in Shrink's preferences thus avoiding outer edge and not sacrificing much space
