so how do i manually upgrade my japan v1.0 to v1.5??could u possibly teach me?and is this so called DEVHOOK v.22 can play most of d game?and is there any tutorial on installing it on my psp??

@asyir... yeah u can upgrade to jap v1.50 without having any issues. I upgraded to v2.0 then downgraded to v1.50.
go to http://www.psp-hacks.com/downloads.php and download v1.50 and then copy the Eboot file into the GAME folder thats in ur PSP dir.
then upgrade to v1.50 by selecting it under the GAME menu, in the psp. this will give u v1.50.
note. u will be asked to enter the settings u want, like when u first turned on ur PSP.

@asyir... if u read the 2nd comment in this thread Evnflow explained it perfectly well. what he said was:
"Converting to ISO:
guide on how to convert the "PSP_GAME" folder and "UMD_DATA.BIN" file back to an ISO image file so here it is:
you will need a program called "VcdromX"...you can google it and get it....
you WILL need this program...download it and once you extract it...
look for an icon called "VcdromX"...
(I'm going to use Fifa as an example in this guide) open this file up and a window will pop up on the screen type in "C:\Fifa" and make sure that the "FCD" button is checked...
now click the left "??" on the bottom..now go to the folder where you have the "PSP_GAME" and "UMD_DATA.BIN" files\folders and DRAG them over to the right side of the "VcdromX" window...
once this is done go to the top left corner and look for a box marked "??F", click on this and then go down to where it says "????(B)" click on this..a window will pop up click "OK"...this will start to convert this file to an ".FCD" file...
now once this is done go back to the top left corner and to the "??F" box..this time go down to where it says "??????C"..this will bring up another pop up window click on the folder icon on the top box and go to the C:\ and look for the file labeled "Fifa.FCD"...
now click open or double click on that file and it will put that name in the pop up window that showed up...
now click on the top right box ( next to the folder looking icon) labeled "??" and it will start to create an iso image file for you...you will have to close this window out because it will stay stuck on 100% once finished..but once it reaches 100% it is ok to close it...
now just use the iso image in the FastLoader/Umd Emulator you have and enjoy.. ;)"

I hate to keep bothering you but I am having a problem. I got your vcdromx (thanks btw for helping me get it) and now my problem is, that the folder i got from need for speed is a psp_game folder with a umd.bin file and so i put the .bin file in the psp_game folder and in your guide, it says after you drag it to the right column, the psp_game folder that is, you are suppose to click the ????C i did that and you said to search for the Fifa.fcd file but I can't find any .fcd file in the psp_game for need for speed. All it has is a bunch of subfolders of music,videos,cars, ect..

you don't look for the .fcd file until after you have made the .fcd file...and it's in the C:\ directory(on your comp)

Guys, don't bother deciphering vcdromx when UMDGen gets the job done faster. Check out www.umdgen.com for more info.

Maybe I missed it in the tons of pages that are in this thread but I am trying to verify my backedup umds and I am not sure I have done it correctly. I NOW have a 1.50 firmware psp (get the picture) and have installed PSP UMD Emulator V0.8C. I have a backup of my Bubble Bobble, and my twisted metal. I have followed the directions over and over again and everytime I can open the umd emulator but cannot get it to load my UMD backups. PLEASSSSSSSSSSSE help I have gone on for days and cannot do this. I really cannot be sure where my problem is occuring. IE: is it the backups or the emulator.
Your help is much appreciated.

also does anyone know where I can get backups online. OF COURSE THIS IS ONLY FOR MY OWN PURPOSES RETREIVING BACKED UP COPIES OF ONLY GAMES THAT I ALREADY OWN.

another thing...im now using d DEVHOOK v0.22 for my 1.0 firmware.ive tried to play lotsa game but till now i just can play d dynasty warrior only.is it because of d emulator or because of my firmware?is it necessary to update my psp to v1.5 so that i can play other games?

ive d/l dv1.5 update.and i already put d eboot file onto my GAME folder.but when i load it on my psp under d GAME section,theres nothing there.is it suppose to have an icon or what?how do i update it actually??sorry for asking to many question at a time..

I decided to give UMDGenerator a shot and everything went smoothly with the followed steps. But once it says the iso is complete, should it make a .rar file with psp_game and umd.bin in it. I looked through it and didn't see a .iso file, is that how its suppose to be?

ok just to make sure, did u copy the Eboot of v1.50 into the GAME FOLDER. It it exactly the same like putting homebrew's on ur psp.
on ur PSP, did u go to the GAME FOLDER and then to the MEMORY STICK FOLDER, it should be there with an icon

My understanding is that as of right now, if your running 2.5, your out of luck for the time being. Hang in there, I'm sure someone will find a way around it. They always do!

@asyir...you have to make a folder in the PSP\GAME directory named "UPDATE"(ALL letters capitalized) and put the 1.5 EBBOT file in it...to run it...and only a few games work with Devhook V22 on the 1.0 firmware...will try to get a list up later...
@KT235...take the psp back to the store you bought it from and tell them that the system locks up sometimes and that you would like to trade it out for a new system...they should trade it out for you...hopefully you will get a 2.0 or lower(you can upgrade to a 2.0(MANUALLY, NOT AUTOMATICALLY or otherwise you will get the 2.50 firmware again) if you have get the 1.51 or 1.52 firmware)...
@dlhpsp...ok when you plug in your psp to your comp...next to the PSP folder on the first window do you have these folders: ISO(this is where you put the ISO image file of the game you want to play)..and a UMDEMULATOR folder(NOT the one with the EBOOT file in it...it has a CORE.bin file and a .BMP file in it)...then if you double click on the PSP folder and then double click on the GAME folder do you have these folders: UMDEMULATOR(the one with the EBOOT file in it) and UMDEMULATOR% folders...

I figured otu how to do the vcdromx properly, I made hte .fcd file and then made it an .iso and it went to 100% but it still didn't come out with a plain .iso file. It still had the umd.bin and psp_game in a rar file. Is that what its suppose to come out like? Cause when I read the tutorial it said then you have an iso image.

ok...if you right click on the ISO file you made(or double clicked it)...you should get a WinRAR window pop up...if it has the PSP_GAME folder and UMD_DATA.bin file(DON'T EXTRACT IT!!), that is normal...just close out that window...and copy and paste that ISO file(the one you made and right clicked on) and put it in the ISO folder on your PSP....

I have a psp with firmware ver. 1.52, can I play iso games off my memory stick. I am new at this and I have tried fastloader v0.8 and have tried 3 iso games in the iso folder under UMDEMULATOR. When I go to games then memory stick an icon show up with a smiley face then under that a icon that says corrupt data. WHen I click on the smiley face I get an error massage that the game could not be started *80020148)??? I am leaving for a trip tomorrow and would love to have a game or two before i leave... any suggestions???????????

@evnflow I have the files in the correct locations. I have read and reread the readme and have checked and double checked the files are in the right spot. I can load the emulator but when I click X on the PSP Game director while in the emulator it freezes and then turns off.

@Evnflow...hate to be a nuisance, but is there a tutorial for Devhook/Hookboot? The NFO that comes with it is very vague at best.

@jxs714...hey man back off...i have seen that site talked about in a lot more forums, other than this one...and truthfully you can get the same thing from torrent sites...so why get all bent out of shape...so just chill, cool? thanks

@oryp...you just need an "ISO" folder next to your PSP folder and the Hookboot folder and Hookboot% folder in your PSP\GAME directory...it should load up..
