Hmm! Interesting, all that I can tell you is what I saw when you posted CPU-Z and I made an analysis based on that. Not all memory chips are equal even among a particular make. Have tried each set individually to see if that makes a difference?

@ Sophocles

Great suggestion and I will do that later tonight or tomorrow. I've gone through the bio several times now trying different combinations but no dice. I currently have the timings to 2.5-3-3-6 and it seems fine.

Thanks for your help. I will do just a couple of sticks at a time and see what happens. :)

Let's see, with better timing (though not what you expected), and a moderate OC, you're only 590 MB/s ahead of the stock setting on mine with the deplorable locked timing? Hardly worth the time and expense of a new mobo and heatsink/fan combo. Though I noticed your arithmetic score is noticably higher than at 3.4Ghz.
Quote:
By the way it is supposed to be 2-3-2-6
Or could the problem be that you don't see 2-3-2-6 anywhere in the timing?

With the ability to change settings, the C2 timing for the memory I have should be 2-3-3-6.

Earlier in the thread we went over doing captures in detail with theonejrs using screenshots (so the tags could be shown). PM him and see if he remembers what pages it was on or go back and review. I remember helping both theonejrs and rugripper. Theonejrs got the full explanation though, if what little memory I have is still working right.

The short story is use capture software, use web hosting such as imageshack to put the picture on the net, and use the img tags and syntax {from the message page) to link to the hosted image.

Boy, I shouldn't snooze and then put in answers without rechecking the thread. You guys had discussed the topic before I woke up. LOL

Dear me, I check this thread every time I can, and usually there's another whole page!
2-3-2-6 sounds like some pretty fast memory by the way, I've only got 3-3-3-8!
Do you think that could cause occasional jerks when playing games? Or is 1GB just not enough any more?

1GB is not enough anymore if you're using programs that are highly CPU and RAM intensive (encoding and games come to mind). Plus you appear to be using C3 memory; at least that's what the timing indicates; and then there's the timing. ;) So, it looks like you have a combination of things working against you.

That and it's £28 elixir RAM... £28 in autumn 2005. Hmmm, why couldn't I have just forked out the extra £30? Mind you, having said that, why didn't I fork out the extra £30 for a decent power supply, I'd be £100 richer due to the lack of the repair bill, and 240GB richer too.
Still, live and learn. I'm not making that mistake again.

Baltekmi,

Brobears' not like that. He genuinely thought that I could help you. If you were sitting right here, I could explain it in about 2 min. Lets try this.

First you download Screen Grabber Pro. Just type it into any search engine and it will give you sources. Install it! Then do a search for ImageShack. Same thing, download and install. The Screen Grabber will snap a pic of whatever window you have on top. When you have an image you want to post, Go to Image shack and set up your account. Basicly you want to go to upload images and click browse to find an image. Host it and copy the first forums format by highlighting it, right click the mouse and left click copy.

To put it in your post you paste the copy into your post by right click and then paste. Remove by backspacing, the last [/IMG]. Change the remaining [/IMG] to img and change the last one to small letters as well. Now look down the url line till you see [IMG] and remove all the other stuff in front of it. When you are done click reply. I know this is a real simplified explaination but it's really that simple. I'll put something in this post doing things just like I said and it should work! Something like this

TA DA!!! As you can see by my Cat, it works! I actually wrote it as I was making this to send, so if you do things the same way, it should work fine for you too. The reason for the caps and the need to remove them is probably so it can be displayed properly.

Happy Computering

Lol computering, that's a new one!
Just to add my info on that, I've hosted images just using mspaint and then going straight to imageshack and uploading them, ignoring accounts and additional software.

A trial version of CaptureWiz is available at CNet's http://www.download.com/ . That's the one I use. There's others and even freeware. Some images have too much content to upload to imageshack, that's why I like being able to capture and save in multiple formats, including the lower content gif and png. Often I'll just load something on imageshack without opening an acct.

Starting at the top of page 39 and ending at the top of page 41, you'll find all the info needed for doing screen captures and posting them. I thought you said you spent hours reading the whole thread. Now we have to go back to school on reader comprehension. LOL Just yankin yer chain. Had I not wanted to help, I'd have stayed silent. After reviewing that material, if you have questions, just ask.

I'd forgotten where that material was. If you notice I had to do some of the instructions with captures because the tags are live in text. A photo capture works for explanations though. "1 picture is worth..." ;)

I also forgot, it wasn't theonejrs that got the $10 explanation, it was rugripper.

Okay, you have the the capture and everything done right till you create the AD message. You're not setting the img tags and syntax. Take the URL(s) you have and put them inside the img tags as shown in my examples and on the message page.

Remember img is in brackets.

Type or paste the complete url, such as http://img108.imageshack.us/img108/7494/cpuz8sf.png

Next use /img (in brackets) to complete.

Exchanging img with xyz it will look like this.
[xyz]http://img108.imageshack.us/img108/7494/cpuz8sf.png[/zyz]

You can copy that, paste it in the meassage box, and delete only xyz and type in img, click reply and you'll see how it works. img has to be in the brackets and the end one has to have the / Also no spaces. The syntax and tags has to be as in the examples.

If you use the img tags correctly, using http://img108.imageshack.us/img108/7494/cpuz8sf.png

you get:
