fukn,

I am presumming that you are putting a dvd in and the DVD43 program sticks (if I am understanding your problem)?

Well, next time you turn your comp on - (IF DVD43 comes on automatically when you turn on the comp) - go into your msconfig ... and uncheck the DVD43 items so it will not come on at startup.

Then reboot your comp and UNINSTALL it.

Then if you still wnat to use it, re-install it and see if you continue having the same problem.

IF by chance you are ONLY having issues with a particulat disk - then try cleaning the disk thoroughly, and try again. Hope I helped.

Hey, has anyone run into this. I have a NEC 3540A (patch w/Dee's 1.W7 firmware) Dell Dimension 4400 w/XP SP2 and I loaded DVDXPlatinum 2.1.0.43 and DVD43 3.6.2.111 and it will not work. I continually get the "This is a CSS encrypted disc" message. It was like I never had DVD43 running. I uninstalled everything and tried again, same thing. Any ideas? I know 10 other folks that are XP SP2 using DVD43 3.6.2.111 and they have no issues. HELP!

Try playing the movie with DVD43 running for about 30 sec and see if DVD43 recognizes the disc then... Sometimes you need to play the move a little before it will recognize it...

madrid,

are you getting that message with different disks or the same one?

Do you see the DVD43 program face change at all and end up turning green?

Are you getting the same message using xcopy AND 43?

Thanks for responding so quickly, and I am sorry for not putting in such obvious information....every time I completely waited until it recognized the Disc (Party of Five S-1 D-1) and it said it was CSS protected.

Yes, this CSS protection message comes up every time. Like it does when you accidentally for get to launch it. After uninstalling it, and re-installing it. I stopped it and manually launched it and waited a good bit prior to starting DVDXPlatinum...I called my buddy and he had an XP sp2 and he loaded the same exact executables and everything loaded and ripped fine.

Also, I used to use DVDFab but their website is down. Did they get hatched by the MPAA, as well? <321 studios>

it could be your xcopy that is actually causing the problems - try uninstalling xcopy but using the other tools and see what happens - xcopy has always been know to cause many problems - the two software may be conflicting - you really dont need xcopy if you have DVD43 and fab

Thanks ZHELPZ but, I am not utilizing Xcopy, I am using DVDXPlatinum 2.1.0.43. I only tried uninstalling DVD43, but my friends and since I have never had any issue with DVDXPlatinum 2.1.0.43 so I didn't think to try that. Also, the trial version of AnyDVD 5.4.4.1 works fine with DVDXPlatinum 2.1.0.43.

Also, has anyone ever heard of not having the ADVANCED tab in the Controller properties in Device Manager. I was looking to double check the UDMA settings and there is no ADVANCED tab in the Primary & Secondary Channel properties

Madrid,

Xcopy = DVDXPlatinum = SAME THING - you are talking about the product from 321 studios correct? If not then I am in error.

Seems that you are using a very old version. I own an Xcopy too - and when they wee still in business I usually did not have too many problems (though I heard many people did) - however once it stopped being updated as time went on I did start having problems more and more - especially conflicting software issues.

I uninstalled it and I stopped having issues. Now I use decryptor w/ shrink ... and am trying clonedvd2 w/ AnyDVD ... have used DVD43 w/ shrink - none of which usually cause issues - but the last time I updated dvd 43 - I started having issues - have since uninstalled 43, issues have stopped (for now) - computers and software are just too emotional *L*

all,

Version: 2.1.0.43 Date: 4/15/2005 DVDXPlatinum can not do the sony protection !
Also it?s a knock off of 321 studios DVD copy v4038.
As for DVD43 I would uninstall and use AnyDVD, the reason DVD43 on some systems it just quits working.. Note:dvd43 and AnyDVD can not be installed at the same time.
Best program in my option is clonedvd2 and anydvd you can try both for 21 days free.and the trial is the full programs.
Get AnyDVD and clonedvd2 here

Ireland thanks for steppin in - I see I am not as confused I was starting to think.

Your post also re-iterates that fact that me thinking to continue keeping DVD43 off my computer is a good decision ...

And as far as clonedvd2 / AnyDVD - I am utilizing the trial and I am liking it alot - I think I will go ahead and buy it - hoping its not too expensive!

So http://www.dvdxsoftware.com/ is 321 studios? I know the programs look identical but they state a million places that they are not 321 studios.

there are 2-knock off's of 321-studios platinum 4038,one is from international Platinum v5.0.0.13 and dvdxsoftware DVDXPlatinum 2.1.0.43..neither can do the sony protection on there own..
only way to get them to do a proper job to do the sony protection is to remove the ripper and turn them into rf (ripper free)and use AnyDVD..

Thanks ireland. I stick with DVDXPlatinum 2.1.0.43 because IMHO, I believe it handes episodic DVDs the best. DVD43 has been great(free) until now. Any opinions episodic ripping?

clonedvd handes episodic movies the best.as i have done over 700+ movies with clonedvd2.to tell you the truth,i do not have one movie on a dvdr made with any version of platinum..,and i been with dvdxcopy since 9-2002.all my testing are with a dvdrw as platinun does have some problems with episodic movies, and there is much more control with CloneDVD..
you would have to try CloneDVD to understand..
