My younger son and I have the iPod mini and my older son has the iPod (think his is 20g). The only downside I have seen so far is iTunes. Had a hell of a time upgrading to 5.0 and finally went back to 4.9.

I have a 6gb Ipod mini and I am loving it.
I never thought I'd ever find a use for Itunes but it's seamless intergration with the mini is impressive.
Honestly, if I had to buy a mp3 player with my own cash I'd probably go for a creative micro photo with 8gb of storage, but I am not gonna complain about the mini. I am now a fan of podcasts as well....

Yeah.. I definitely need to get better headphones.. something with good bass response and maybe an inline volume control.
But I am reluctant to buy those studio type headphones, I would like something a bit smaller and not costing a small fortune.
I have checked out a couple of headphones rekated sites and forums but they are so audiophile slanted that I am lost.
I just want some decent headphones that are not too bulky, have good bass(when I listen to Slayer I want to *hear* the double base drumming roar) and not cost an arm and a leg.

I purchased a ipod mini due to the construction of the mini i enjoy the fact that if i accedently drop it it wont break unlike the nano where if you just put it in your pocket and sit down incorrectly the nano will snap in half
so i like my nano and people think you need 20 and 30 or even the new 30 gig remember before purchasing one that itunes converts everything into a smaller format
so 4 gigs is over 10000 albums
and compressed though itunes is only 1 gig so you might want to think before you buy
great piece of advice

Let me throw in my two cents...
I bought the iPod nano 4gb about a month ago and i absolutely love it. I also purchased the "invisible shield" to protect it and works perfectly. Not a single person who has seen my nano has even been able to notice that the "shield" was on there.
I've been through about 6 different mp3 players and this one is definitely my favorite, although both of my iAudio players were excellent. I only use flash drives because I only use it to work out, so I can't comment on how it compares to the standard size iPods.

Im ordering a 30gb black ipod video tommarow! For those of you who have an aftermarket cd player in their car, heres some helpful info. Crutchfield.com has adapter cables than can change a cd changer input into an auxilary input so you can plug an ipod directly into your cd player and not use any sound quality! Im gunna hook my ipod up to my apline cd player w/ my 1200w sound system!

well i have an aftermarket alpine cd player so the cassette adapter isnt an option. With an FM transmitter you loose some sound quality. With an auxilary input via rca cables you loose no sound quality at all. Its quite convienient but factory radios dont have aux inputs, only some aftermarket players do.
