Here's the link, http://www.imgburn.com/ but I think you may have the same problem, which I am clueless about.
Good luck,

Just a thought, have you attempted to PLAY the file you ripped to your HDD, and see if it breaks up. Might save you some discs.

Rich

Rich,
Yeah, I've tried to play it on my computer. I go back and forth b/w mac and pc. can play video files on mac fine, but how do i play an iso file on a pc? i'm afraid you're right regarding the video break-up. what i've been doing is taking the burned disc and going to various players (high-end, low-end, computer) and i've found that sometimes it'll break up on the high-end but not at all on the computer, for instance. does this mean the disc is good but my player just doesn't like DVD+R? what do store-bought dvds use when they're created? what enables all dvd players to recognize those?
thanks for jumping on.

Well, you will have to select Mode--->File, and then select the ICON that depicts a folder, to select a folder to rip the movie to. Then when you go to play it, select the folder you placed the movie in.
Good luck,
Rich

DVD Decrypter can only burn an ISO file.
I don't know why you're video is breaking up. Can you try them on another player? friend's etc.? Yes, often the cheapies play everything.

laddyboy,
Well, if you follow the instructions that I mentioned you can rip to a Video_TS file, I've done it many a times.
Try it, you'll like it, to be used for input to other apps.
Best regards,
Rich

this may sound strange, but is it possible burns need time to "cure" or possibly that the burn isn't deep enough and the laser that reads it is slipping resulting in the broken video. i'll play around with imgburn tomorrow. after reading on the website, it seems to address the double layer issue.

If that were the case, I would suspect something is wrong with your burner.

kramerica,
You need to run DVD Identifier on one of the burnt disc that is in question, to determine whether or not your disc(s) are booktyped DVD-ROM.

Gentlemen,
Lest we forget, I am, indeed, the one with the problem. Still looking for a fix. I'm wondering about any other avenues besides decrypter. Do both of you have success in burning dual layer from commercial without the video breakup?

Rich, I have been booktyping as dvd-rom using both decrypter and the booktype application.

kramerica, my NEC burns all DL media with no problems whatsoever and no breakup upon playback. I only use DVD Decrypter for backing up my purchased disks. That's why I suggested that your burner or player doesn't like the media. If your firmware is up to date and you're booktyping as DVD-ROM, then without trying all kinds of media, I don't know what else to try.
Commercial DVDs are pressed rather than burned so to speak. They don't have a type other thsn DVD-ROM.
It could be that Litey burner is just not up to the task. I can't say for sure. I have one Litey that I never use and should just toss because it simply is a crappy burner for whatever reason. Always was and always will be I guess for that one. Other people have no probs whatsoever with their Liteys. I imagine similar tales can be told by owners of all sorts of brands of burners.
Verbatim makes the best DL media by far so if that breaks up with all players then the problem lies with the burner in my opinion.

Well, I think you should double check by running DVD Identifies, just to double check that they are, in fact, being booktyped. Mainly because, you say that they play fine on your PC, but not on a standalone DVD player, so something must be going on with the discs.

Rich,
Again, can you successfully do this? If so, can you give me your step by step so I know I'm not missing anything?

I had a typo, I meant DVD Identifier, which you ran earlier, but you had run it against a blank DVD, you need to run it against one of your burnt discs that you are having problems with.
I assume that is what you meant?
