Possible a bad press. See if you can exchange it.

I go with a bad disk too, this movie was a piece of cake. No flaky protection on it at all. Backed it up with AnyDVD and Nero Recode with no problems.

I used DVD Decrypter, VobBlanker and DVD Shrink for a roughly 98% full disc copy (or was it 90%). I have the widescreen version.

You can use Shrink alone for this movie, there is nothing special on it.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith has no special protections whatsoever. I just backed up using my usual method.

A) ripped the movie using DVD Decrypter via File Mode
B) encoded the movie with Nero Recode 2 with "Advanced Analysis"
C) burned it with Nero Burning Rom

That's it, simple as sippin' on a brew. Below is a very simple guide I made just for newbies, incase some of them got lost to what I've said above.

That's it and you're done -- this is just a piece of cake. Overall, it took me 16 minutes for DVD Decrypter + 18 minutes for Nero Recode 2 to encode + 14 minutes for Nero Burning Rom to burn (16+18+14 = 48 minutes, which I burned it at 4X to avoid getting any coasters). Now you can burn this baby with any of your desire burning engines.

*NOTE: remember when I said if you want Nero Recode to burn right away, then choose your DVD burner (look at picture below again), then Nero will automatically burn onced Recode is completed with the encoding process.

Enjoyed it and happy burning..!!

you don't need DBDFab Decrypter to do this film, just DVD Shrink for instance. however if you want to use DVDFab Decrypter, try 2.9.6.0 as 2.9.6.2 is a beta version as far as i'm aware. but either way there is no funny protection on this movie so programs such as DVD Shrink are fully able to handle this film

This movie was too easy, if you are having problems take the disk back and get another original you probably got a bad press, there is nothing special about this movie, and creaky is right Shrink handles this with nothing else.

Hey creaky, I had a passing thought about starting another thread for Madagascar but figured you would cut me off at the knees and I would have to change my handle to 2ShortGeek! LOL

BTW I just updated DVDFab Decrypter and my Spybot S&D didn?t bitch about it, so I guess they got that problem ironed out???

Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.

But, but, but

All of you with AnyDVD and Shrink are able to backup flawlessly, however, at about the 55% - 60% mark during the Shrink analysis I'm receiving the following error:

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue
Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)

-----------------------------------------------------------

What would you suppose the problem is -- the disk?

Thanks.

My appologies, I feel pretty stupid since all I did was CLEAN the disk and tried again -- it worked perfectly.
