just a small tip that would probably help a lot of people is if you include the versions of the software you used.

It was a good thought and I know you have good intentions but this won't help a bit. I've tried it and there are still many that refuse to read or search for answers prior to posting. I've gone as far as to post.
"For those having problems ripping or transcoding please try these before posting problem"
Try ripping with DVD Decrypter vs 3.5.4.0
Try ripping with dvdfab decrypter vs 2.9.6.2
Try the free trial of AnyDVD vs 5.6.1.1 running in the background with transcoder.
Try ripping with dvdd with AnyDVD running in the background.
Try ripping with dvdfab decrypter with AnyDVD running in the background.
Try cleaning the dvd with mild soap and water solution.
Try polishing the dvd with toothpaste or very mild abrassive.
If none of the above work then you most likely have a defective copy (bad press). Return for another.
This didn't help a bit or slow down the posting problems of same thing over and over. Go figure.

I think its really the fact that we always get off subject . And everyone would rather post another thread then look through the random stuff to find the useful info......just a thought

@axemurder,
I just imagine that you?re correct? I spent about 6 months digging thru the posts here on AD. Not to say I didn?t come up with a lot of useful information but it really was a tedious job. LOL
BTW it was worth it because I havent made a coaster in so long it scares me.LOL

It all really boils down to ppl being lazy. They try one method like loading it into shrink and if it doesn't work rather than trying alternative methods, they post their problem and look for someone else to solve their problem for them. This is just my opinion and doesn't apply to every case and person. I've yet to come across a dvd that I couldn't rip. Not all were successful on the 1st try but with a little effort on my part they have all been successfully ripped one way or another. 99% are sucessfully ripped useing dvdd with AnyDVD running in the background.

You got it Mort81, Perseverance is a blessing.. I have spent hours ripping disks that I copied to Memorex. LOL Changed drives, changed software, cleaned disks, said a lot of expletives deleted, read a lot of threads on AD, etc. and never posted a question?.
25% of my problems have been solved by AnyDVD and the other 75% have been solved by changing my media to Verbatims??????.
Read my Sig.....

@axemurder,
IMHO I like any, shrink, Nero but, if you like decrypter better to burn with, that?s great also.
Try ImgBurn, the latest from Lightning UK, you can use it with shrink by changing the names of his two proggys.
That is just rename DVDDecrypter.exe to something like MYDecrypter.exe then rename ImgBurn.exe to DVDDecrypter.exe and Shrink will use ImgBurn when you tell it to burn with Decrypter..
Don?t forget to delete and re-do your shortcuts.. May have to reverse the names of the folders also. I don't know if it's necessary, but I did it anyway..
ImgBurn is newer but will not decrypt or rip so don?t delete DVDDecrypter yet??LOL
Lightning UK is alive and well, along with Elvis?

When I first came to this forum I read and read and read. I have asked a couple of questions trying to learn. I had problems with the first two backups that I made not having any sound. These were backed up using DVD Cloner II. Of course I was not able to adjust the burn speed in that program. I asked the questions regarding that program and the sound issue and got tons of feedback about how bad that program was.
The kind folks here (noted especiall, arniebear, LOCOENG, bbmayo, borhan9) were especially kind and directed me to the proper software and methods.
I have not had a bad burn, that was not my fault, since.
Once a person gets the method down that works, it really is simple.
Just my thoughts.

Agree with Mort81 and 9mmruger1
There is nothing currently out there that cannot be ripped/burnt.
Occasionally, a couple require a different solution but there are quite rare.
The key is to keep you computer lean, mean and clean, use quality media, do not burn too fast and do not use paper labels.
I find it quite amusing/amazing the number of threads started claiming that a particular DVD cannot be ripped or that there is a new protection.
A little homework, perserverance, insight and a clean machine is all that is required.

@ax...... welcome to AD....... I don't recommend using paper labels on DVDs.... you have the epson R200.... I have the R320..... use the inkjet printables! they are much better and you take away the chance of a damaged DVD with paper labels! I used to do the same thing but when some disks started to skip and just wouldn't play anymore ..... well...... I stopped and all was just fine! There will come a time when you will find out first hand why you don't use paper labels!

Good webstores are supermediastore.com, rima.com, meritline.com, and newegg.com. I also get my verbs from amazon.com at times.
Hi IHoe,

I just reverted back to glossy paper labels (forgot to order printable Verbs), printing on a R320. I forgot how absolutely beautiful they look on the glossy labels, much better than the printable disks. I must admit they are a little more inconvenient, than the printables.
BTW, I used to exclusively use labels, and have never had a problem with them, I think one just needs to get very good labels, and there won't be any problems.
Just my worthless 2˘,
Rich
