SmartRipper file smart.exe looks like a virus to McAfee?

The subject line says it.
Is anyone aware of this? The AV software doesn't give a name for a particular virus it thinks is there. I wonder if they just know that the software is "illegal" and so it shows up as a virus?
Or is this just a false positive. Version of SmartRipper is 2.41, downloaded from AfterDawn today.

The legalities of the program would not matter to a virus(scanner), perhaps you need to update the AV program's "list", out of curiosity, what anti-virus program says smartripper has a virus?
This is an amazingly imformative site with many places to find information and help. Please support it.

Of course, I should have put a <joke> tag around the bit about the legal issue.
It's McAfee AV, the virus definitions are current as of 01/2003. (Haven't updated them since then, I'll give that a try.

Norton provides good anti virus security over your computer but eats resourses in most cases.
AVG AntiVirus is just as good security as norton and is very easy on your resources!!

I used to use McAfee, then swapped to Sophos. Which on first scan of system found 4 different viruses that McAfee didn't find...

I have 256mb or ram and it effected mine! AVG doesnt make a difference at all on it, it just siots there until something is found :-)

can avg scan individual files like norton. it seem norton does the same like if i download a virus as soon as it downloads norton will qurantein it and get rid of it.

AVG can scan individual files and is very easy on an old AMD 500Mhz. Plus they have a free version. I used to used norton antivirus 7.6 corp, which is just AV but less flashy, and it eat system rescources like nothing else, also stay away from norton personal firewall, it kills my cable connection and slowed my system to almost nothing.
This is an amazingly imformative site with many places to find information and help. Please support it.
