If you use DVD Decrypter, and folow the step by step guide of backing up PS2 games youl be able to copy it with no problem. A PS2 game is not the same as a regulay DVD. Backing up a PS2 disc its mode cemplicated, but after you master it is totaly easy. There are a lot of threads with guide for backing up games. And youl need a DVD Burner and good Media... and a modded PS2 of course.
Anyway where the error apear?

Most of the guides say to rip with dvd decryter but it won't work with socom3. I've tried it several times and keep getting error messages. At around 19 percent, 2mins 30secs, over 30 read errors and final time elapse at over 5mins. Is there any other methods besides using dvd decryter?

I usually find alcohol at either an ABC liquor store or sometimes at the local 7-11 convenient store. As far as it working, well that just depends on how ugly she is.

I know the hardest problems are sometimes the easiest.....when it always stops on me and all i ever use is dvd dycrepter 99% of the time the game disk has a fingerprint or something on it....

I ripped mine with DVD Decrypter and burned it Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD-R's at 4x (TYG02) and it plays perfectly. Is the firmware on your burner up to date? I use Alcohol 120% to rip scratched originals. For horribly scratched games, sometimes it took 6-8 hrs to finish the ripping process. I had this happen with rentals of Predator Concrete Jungle and Devil May Cry. I don't know if it's the best idea to let your burner rip for that long, but I got it at Wal-Mart, so back it'll go if need be. :) Since your game is new, it'd be a good idea to update your firmware.

AD's definition of Firmware:
Sort of a "operating system of the hardware", an embedded instruction set built-in or flashed into a hardware equipment, such as a router, CDR drive, DVD-ROM drive, washing machine, etc.

I stole this from 9mmruger1's sig.

I have a Plextor PX-716A DVD burner with a new firmware upgrade to version 1.09. The DVD game is rented from Blockbuster (lol) it's fairly new, I cleaned it up but I did notice a small scratch.

I thought that errors where caused from embedded sleeper cells so the disc couldnt get ripped.

Nah. No PS2 game has uncopyable sector's that I'm aware of. Now there are intentional bad sectors in HD Advance, Swap Magic, and Breaker Pro that keep them from being copied for any useful purpose. Backups of those are useless because commercial burner's automatically correct the errors, making it impossible to boot a backup without an original copy of a modchip. Probably the game is just slighty scratched. Just let it rip with Alcohol 120% until the image is done. Make sure ignore read errors is checked. If you're worried about your burner blowing up, you can always abort the process at any time.

Nope, battlefield 2: modern combat is on ps2 also, hence several threads about it on here.
