Is there anyway to improve VCD's bitrate with TMPG?

I was wondering if anyone knew if VCD's bitrate can be improved or if there are any drastic measures I can take improve the video and audio synch? I mean VCD looks ok but SVCD for the file im trying to use says it wont work, and everytime I try to convert from AVI (Xvid) i get a white box that floats on the screen! Is there anyway to fix this or anyway to get improved VCD quality without losing the compliance of my stand-alone dvd player?

you get a white box that floats on the screen when you try to encode svcd?? is this white box there when you play back the file or just in TMPGEnc???

This white box does not appear in divx or in the orginal xvid but it happens after I encode to SVCD through TMPG encoder the picture and sound is fine except for the floating white box ! thanks for any help

I get a white box to. But it is in the top right hand corner of the screen, is this what you Mean??. When I burn the Svcd to disc it doesn't place the white box there. Also you can improve a VCD by using EasyVCD. It has a option on it for making Xvcd , which in turn can increase the bitrate.

yeah it shows the white box, so it happened to you but you say after you burn to SVCD it wont show up? and do you know the max bitrate for a SVCD?

Yes the white box is gone after you burn. Not sure about the bit rate, I heard you shouldn't go over 2650? But I may be wrong? As far as downloaded movies I use TMPGEnc to encode my movies.. Also The Svcd quality will not be any better than the Downloaded movie quality, no matter how high you set the bitrate.

I would recommend using VBR SVCD instead of CBR because the quality will be higher!!
