I have a computer with these specs:
Pentium 3 1.3 Processor
Motherboard: Matsonic MS7127C
Graphics: Nvidia Gforce MX400 64MB
O/S: Windows XP SP2
When I boot up the PC, it appears the following message:
-----------------------------------------------------------
Award BootBlock BIOS v1.0
Copyright (c) 2000, Award Software, Inc.
BIOS ROM checksum error
Detecting floppy drive A media...
INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER_
-----------------------------------------------------------
I tried to boot up with a bootdisk made from Windows XP and put the FLASH UTILITY and the BIOS FILE, it appeared the message:
-----------------------------------------------------------
Award BootBlock BIOS v1.0
Copyright (c) 2000, Award Software, Inc.
BIOS ROM checksum error
Detecting floppy drive A media...
-----------------------------------------------------------
It didn't appear the INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER message, it just "freezed", and when I took out the floppy disk and rebooted the PC, it showed the first message again...
It's odd because the bootdisk didn't boot the flash utility.
What can I do? Please help!
LuisJS

from the looks of it id say youve taken the disk out halfway through a bios flash... not sure how your going to be able to fix that
try using a windows 98 bootdisk rather than the XP one (ive had issues with the xp disk before)
you get a 98 bootdisk here
http://www.bootdisk.com/
Studio Comp: AMD Athlon XP 3200+ OC ~ 2.35GHz runs at 40 celcius idle and 48 under stress (aerocool GT1000 really works!), Asrock K7VT4A , 1024MB Dual Channel DDR 400, MSI Nvidia FX5200 128MB OC ~ 600MHz mem 350MHz core,80GB SATA + 200GB SATA + 120GB IDE, 7.1 Channel Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platinum EX sound and midi interface. 19" Sony SDM-HS95 TFT monitor - sweeet

goto this link http://www.matsonic.com/mb/downloaddata/bios_vother.htm#ms7127c download from this folder not any other or the board is scrap both zip files & unzip them to a disk.
MS7127C
Bios type: Award TOP
010807.zip Date : 2001-08-07
instruction :
BIOS Flash Utility Award Flash : awd830.zip
bootup on a boot disk than change over the disk holding the files you just unzipped. type awd830 010807.bin than enter. it might ask you if you want to save old bios, say no. it will than ask you are you certain you want to procceed with programing, say yes. just follow what the screen asks you.

it seems to me that you have completely screwed your bios up and unfortunately that does mean that you wont ever get past that screen unless you take an identical motherboard and swap the bios chips (or just move everything onto the identical board)
the only way ive ever seen a bios that messed up get recovered was by using 2 pcs.
You take 2 pcs with identical motherboard (one of them being your broken one) and use the working one to boot into the bios flash utility. before you start the flash you have to swap over the bios chips (while the computer is still on which is why im not reccomending you do this) when youve got the faulty chip into the board that has booted you then run the flash util and then both bios chips should work perfectly - that is if you dont break them while swapping them around.
you can try that if you want but its likely to make you situation worse if you mess it up.
my advice to you would be to get your hands on a replacement motherboard because yours is screwed infact with the specs of your system id say a whole new pc would be helpfull anway

1. Did u open the computer
2. Bad Flash
Need anything u could remember
If 1 = know then open it and see what bios chip u have is it the small square one or the long 32pin one?
If its the 32pin one best is to do is hotswap if else its gonna be a bit harder.
try extract the .bin file when it ask for floppy and inset it int the computer before u turn it on.
Else check the procedure on the manual or site of manufacturer of the sequance of bios recovery
Good Luck

@luisjs --- Am gonna summarize what people in here have been telling you step by step to help you out.
1- Go to : http://www.matsonic.com/mb/downloaddata/bios_vother.htm#ms7127c and download the latest bios for the MS7127C --- Get the 010807.BIN file AND the AWD830.ZIP files. Unzip the AWD830.ZIP on your desktop , it will become AWD830.exe
2- Take an empty or a used but not needed 3½ in. disk and put it in the A: drive of your good PC ---in control panel , right click the A: drive and select FORMAT-- PUT a the tick in the Create MS-DOS startup disk. -- wait till it is formatted.
3- Now from your desktop, copy/paste 010807.BIN and AWD830.exe on that startup disk you just made -- ((go to control panel again and right click the A: drive and select PASTE ))-- you will hear some grinding and those 2 files will be copied on your Startup disk.
===================================================
Take this startup disk to your sick PC--- put it in the A: drive and push the button to startup.
You will hear more noises -- and then it will stop with the A> prompt for you to type in.
1- Type in AWD830.exe <<ENTER>> A Bios screen will pop up asking you to type in the bios file name --
2- Type in 010807.BIN <<ENTER>>
now let it installed your bios !
Once this is done , it will confirm the installation. Take the startup disk out of the A: drive and reboot your PC as usual.

i did all that:
created the bootdisk;
downloaded the files (AWD830.exe and 010807.BIN) to the bootdisk...
but when i put the bootdisk in the "broken" computer and press the boot button, appears:
NVIDIA GeForce2 MX400 VGA BIOS
Version 3.11.00.02.00
Copyright (C) 1996-2000 NVidia Corp.
64.0MB RAM
and then freezes at this message:
Award BootBlock BIOS v1.0
Copyright (C) 2000, Award Software, Inc.
BIOS ROM checksum error
Detecting floppy drive A media...
and it doesn't move... it doesnt appear the A:> prompt but i hear the drive working...
why doesn't it boot when it should...?

It sounds like the BIOS on your motherboard isn't reading the floppy disk drive properly. If you wait, does the floppy disk stop making noise? It should after a certain point. It may be a couple of minutes, but wait for it to stop. If it doesn's stop whirring after 5 minutes, or if it does stop but nothing changes on the screen then you may have to replace the motherboard. Unless you can find a suitable one for a P3 then it will mean new CPU and RAM as well, I'm afraid.

Right, in this case, it's reading the floppy disk but not interpreting the data. I'm afraid I can't really suggest anything if you know that both the floppy drive and disk are OK, other than replacement. Sorry about that!

well, i found out the problem of the freezing screen (i think...):
i went to a site (http://www.pcbuyerbeware.co.uk/BIOS2.htm) and read the chapter "The BIOS Boot Block recovery feature", that explained me how to flash the bios without an ISA video card (which I don't have, and i have to flash the bios by working blind)
so, i reprogrammed the "autoexec.bat" file in the bootdisk, and changed the command lines to:
a:\awd830.exe
010807.bin /py /Sb /sn /cc /cp /cd /R
i can't see a thing of what the flashing utility is doing, so i'm going to wait and then see the results.
