holy god that was illegible... finally figured it out tho..

But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

As for Dragon Quest viii (when I first got it) it only has a dummy data of 50mb but after i removed it I noticed the difference. (ref DMY.DATA, me thinks?) Damn swap magic 4 you! ;)

I thought so, i was finding it hard to belive that Dirge Of Cerberus would be on a Dual-Layer disc. It will ruin the game for you, thats the main reason i stopped playing the downloaded versions of Kingdom Hearts II and Rogue Galaxy. I played a little more of Rogue Galaxy though. The battle system in there is fantastic, a lot more advanced than the Dark Cloud 2 one. And the Cel-Shaded graphics done by Level 5 beat even Dragon Quest VIII. Im not sure how the Gameplay will fare, i spent 120 hours on Dark Cloud 2, so i'm expecting similar playtimes with this game, though im guessing it lacks the town building system in the DC games (obviously) and this did take a lot of time. I think the game developers now are really pushing the PS2 for power now, trying to churn out the best graphics at the rise of the next generation. This will be the key factor in deciding how long the PS2 stays in after HD takes over. Graphically, the PS2's had its day, you won't see much better than the graphics ur seeing in the games right now.

Lol my thoughts exactly, as i mentioned in one of my posts a few days ago. Tetsuya Nomura stated that he extremely impressed with Resident Evil 4, so i reckon that he drew a lot of ideas from Capcom. Not to the point where its breaching copyright, but where the game can be recognized as original and fresh by Res Evil and Final Fantasy fans alike. Remember Parasite Eve? That game combined graphical and playing styles of both games put together. So it isnt much of a surprise that DOC will play like Resident Evil 4, and have backgrounds similar to that of DMC.

Hell yeah! Nearly played through Parasite eve 2 (top game) started it when I first started d/l games 6 weeks ago! Only been in to PC'S for 2 months now but must admit learnt a hell of alot! Used to be an alcoholic then got rushed to hospital with kidney failure. Had to move back to my parents as couldn'd afford rent ever since then all I'v been doing is PC -> PS2 -> PC -> PS2. Hell didn't even know swap magic existed till I started on PC's! LOL

P.S It plays more like Devil may cry without the jumping, scenery and gun point view Resi4 and what I can gather menu like FFVII (not sure though as Japanese is very hard to read methinks!) LOL with scenery out of FFVII!

That's funny Paul. I share a very similar path. I was a hardcore Alky and quit due to health reasons. I quit drinking three years ago. I was forced to go back home. I still live at home, but I plan on moving out within the year. It's nice not paying bills, but I'm too old to put up with a lot of the shite that comes with living at home. I plan on downloading FFX International after DMC 3 SE finishes. I'll have to watch FF: Advent Children. I like my anime dark with a plot, but mindless action is good sometimes too. Dear God I hope Lance Bass doesn't do Sepiroth's voice for the English dubbed version. It's hard to think about Sepiroth as a bad ass when he's a couple Martini's from busting out a chorus of "bye bye bye" at any given time lol. Cheers!

Has anyone played Wild Arms 4? Is it good? I kinda dont want to play it if its weak since there are alot of RPG's out right now and i dont have time to play them all.

I played a little bit of it. It's good like most of the Wild Arms games, but it's certainly not in the class of Dragon Quest VIII, FFX, Shadow Hearts, or Digital Devil Saga. In short, good not great.

Well I just wanted to rent it for $1.99 cuz I heard its compatible with USB extreme so I guess I will go rent it if its kinda good. Might as well its like buying the game for 2 bucks.

From what i've seen of Dirge Of Cerberus, its dark like The Res Evil and DMC series. Of course there may be levels which arent dark and implement more of the FF world. The camera angle when shooting resembles Resident Evil 4, yet is an FF game and therefore will share more links with the FF World. Tokijin would You really compare those 4 games? I think FFX and Dragon Quest are in a seperate league to Digital Devil Saga and Shadow Hearts. I hope the next installments are good though. I never really liked Kazuma Kanekos artwork that much, doesnt look that realistic. I much prefer Yusuke Noara, Tetsuya Nomuras and Akihiko Yoshida's work. Though this may seem like favoritism towards Square Enix, if you actually look at their original character designs rather than how theyve been made in the game, they are very detailed and well drawn. I think Kanekos artwork all looks the same, while someone like Nomuras tend to have a varying degree of difference.

I don't have any idea who those guy's are you just mentioned. Sorry I don't keep up with who does artwork for who. The only name I know involved with any of those games is Akira Toriyama, and he's probably just collecting phat ass royalty checks at this point. I haven't played through Digital Devil Saga or Shadow Hearts, so I don't know that they're in the same class as DQVIII and FFX, but they appealed very much to me personally, the dark themes and what not. The little bit I played of Nocturne really pleased me as well. After beating Soul Reaver 2, it came down to Nocturne or DQVIII in a toss up, as far as what to play next. I like the dark stuff. As much as I like DQQVIII, the cutesy, cel shaded stuff isn't my favorite. The visuals are impressive, just not my style. It doesn't detract from the game at all, in fact the look suits it to a tee. The Dragon Quest series has always been a little more serious in my opinion, that the FF series. DQVIII is so sexist it's funny. All the women are perfectly proportioned with huge breasts, Jessica is objectified by every Male character in the game, the dialogue is rife with sexual inuendos, etc. I don't care, but I think it's a good idea not too many women are into video games, I could definitely see them taking issue with such things. Cheers!

Haha, well when it comes down to it, the darker games seem to have a story that excedes Dragon Quest VIII's. But DQVIII is more about the gameplay. Ijust wonder who DQIX will be handed to. Level 5 only seem to be making cel-shaded games. The Mistwalker company who are developing Blue Dragon for the XBox360, use a technique similar to cel-shading , but with no black outlines. This can easily be done on the XBox360 cos of the high resolution and high framerate support, but would be hard on the PS2.

If DQIX was done by Square Enix themselves, i think it would make for a more fantastical game with more features on character response, appearence etc. Depending on which production team did it of course. For all we know DQIX could already have already started being developed! The cel-shading is done very well in DQVIII, but i dont know whether or not the classic approach for a gaming series this big is the right option. I don't really think that DQIX will be cel-shaded, I think more along the lines of a complete revamp for the series in terms of appearence, but with highly tweaked gameplay mechanics similar to DQVIII. A more serious plot would allow me to enjoy the game more too, cos i'd want to know (quite badly) what happens next, like im thinking about with KH2. Thats why im trying to avoid spoilers.

P.S. If you like me are trying to avoid spoilers on any game, avoid Wikipedia at all costs. SPoiler HEaven as it were...

I believe this thread is open to anyone who anyone who enjoy's RPG's. We talked about the FF series ad nausem earlier in the thread. There's several good RPG franchises out there, and I like discussing them as well. What is HL2 anyway? DjVashV, you're up on all the latest tech specs and companies, I haven't followed that stuff in years.
*Potential Spoilers*

I think the end of FFVII disc one was sadder, you always thought certain parties would come back later on, not counting the infamous Game Shark trick. I may have had a tear or two in my at that point, it certainly was unexpected. As for the ending of FFX, I expected what happened to Auron, that was obvious. As for Tidus, well I didn't see that coming.

I prefer FFVII's Disc 1 ending as opposed to anything in FFX. But that's just me. I'm very, very biased.

HL2 is Half Life 2 by the way. It's a great fps for the computer and XBOX.

Signature? What signature!? Oh wait...I actually have one
now.

omfg seriously you didnt know that? i guess its not in your group of games. its the best fps i have basically every played. and its terrible on the xbox as opposed to pc. pc has higher details and resolutions. they need an ff fps, that would be kinda cool, but i bett it would take alot of heat.

Well as the saying goes, "if you don't have anything nice to say..." etc. I don't care for FPS's. they're not my cup of tea. I've heard of Half Life and Half Life 2, I was just thinking in terms of RPG's. Well they tried to combine RPG's and FPS's once that I know of, it was a God awful game on the PSX called Elemental Gearbolt. It failed horribly, the two genres are just too different to combine. There are a lot of good first person shooter's out there, it's just not my favorite genre. I've got 130+ PS2 backups, not a one is a fps. Well I don't know if Call of Duty 2: Big Red One counts.

An FF Fps would be pretty difficult to make, i mean the FF Series is all about RPG really. How far can you stray before you're crossing the line? However, quite a few FF fans buy anything with the FF name on it. If they could think of a way to make that one work, and make it so it isnt completely terrible, i might go for it. How about an Irvine Kinneas (FF8) spin off? lol. Im not really one for FPS's though, I like to see my character in action. That said, i havnt really played many FPS's.

About my knowing "tech specs", i guess i just read alot in my time. IGN is a great place to go if u wanna know about that kinda stuff. I like knowing whats in the gmae im playing, don't know why, guess im a very detailed guy lol.

True this thread has strayed away from FF, but there wouldnt be much of a point starting a brand new one for all the other games. If u wanna know about FF, feel free to ask. I'm sure SOMEONE could provide u with an answer. I definetly would encourage you to pickup FFX-2, cos when it comes down to it, its probably got some of the best gameplay in any FF to date, and THE best battle system (my opinion, feel free to contradict) And the storyline isnt that shit either.

Both games had sorta shock endings for me. I was only about 8 when i finished FF7, so i didnt really know what was going on lol. thinking back on it it was an astonishingly good game. FFX i played more recently, and my emotions ran pretty high with that Father/Son scene between Tidus and Jecht.

fps are basically all i play. some rts tho like darwinia.

and x2 plain sucks. its like you use 30 potions in 15 minutes, and it doesnt even tell you your max health so u dont know if its time for potion. plus the bosses rape you like a priest to a little boy and it takes 3 if not 5 tries to kill one. i normally dominate ff games.

Actually, anubis66, i had no problems beating most of the bosses in FFX-2. The only bosses I had problem with are Angra Mainyu and Trema, which are the two hardest bosses in the game. I didnt find the difficulty level that high really, I probly died more times in FFX than FFX-2.
