It seems that no free programs can convert DVD to iPod directly.

dkmopq's guides:
How to rip DVD to iPod, convert video/movie to iPod with only one program:

the only way you can go about it is to decrypt the DVD using DVD Decrypter, and then convert the resulting the resulting .vob into iPod compatible mp4 using Videora. Check my guide at the top of the forum for more info. I know you say it doesn't work, but it's your only option. What 'doesn't work' about it?

I may be able to help. :-)

Decrypter and videora both work when I have used them sepertaly. I decrypte a movie and then go to videora when I open the movie I have to change it from media files to all file and the movie come up. From there I put the movie as downloaded movie and hit transcode 1 second later it says second pass 1 second after that it says complete and does not come up in itunes under videora vides its not there. I don't know if when I do a dvd movie if I have to change any setting in the converter so any help will be greatly apprechated Lethal.

When you are decrypting is it in IFO mode? Also did you enable streaming to take off subtitles and other languages?(just saves a bit of space) When you have the .vob done it should be of decent size (if it is off a dvd). Convert to 768 kpbs video and 128-160 kpbs audio. Make sure you know where videora is putting your file after transcoding it. Thats all the help I can give Lethal B will be here soon to give a better explanation. (read his tutorial, don't skip steps) Here: is another guide dedicated to DVD Decrypter and Videora http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/guides.html

Thanks for the help but I did everything that the web page said and when I put it to videora it quickly goes to 98% and its been at 98% for 50 mins so far it seems like other things have moved but its been 50 mins still at 98%. The 98% does not change but the frame and processed and filesize still go up. I dont know if there is still something wrong I almost postive I did everthing that the web page said in order to convert so if you have any ideas write back.Thanks

Is this just happening with one DVD, or a series of DVD's?

I just downloaded free trial of Super iPod Video Converter (http://www.bestbuyreviews.com/video-ipod-converter/) and I am doing a test conversion of a mpeg file to mp4. It looks really slick and may help those who are looking for that function as well.

With the ability to convert multiple video formats to mp4 I think this one may end up to be a winner. Find the best video to iPod software from http://www.bestbuyreviews.com

qwerty, you need the DVD Decrypter to rip the dvd to your HDD (or any other dvd ripping program will suffice)

Don't mean to bust your balls Lethal but all he needs is a DVD drive. Just don't want anyone to have any confusion although if you're going to buy a new drive a DVD burner is probably the way to go.

Sorry, I wasnt technically correct. but TBH, in this day & age, it would be really stupid to just buy a dvd drive with no burner;
