I have been backing up dvd's for over a year now, and have had no problems at all. This week though, I have ran into one on 3 disks that I can not overcome.
The disks are
Monk Season 2 disks 1 and 2
The Longest Yard
I have the latest anydvd, clonedvd2, decoder, shrink, etc. I have tried backing these up with all of the above, and all stop at about 61 to 64%. They either claim a cyclic redundancy error, or a L-EC Unrecoverable read error. Can anyone offer suggestions? Thanks for the help.

cyclic redundancy error, or a L-EC Unrecoverable read error is a spot on the disk that is bad. Suggest you carry the disk back for exchange.
You can try this:
Clean the disk real well
Use DVDDecrypter> Mode> Iso>read. Make sure AnyDVD is turned off now rip the image to the HD and see if it will read through the error. After the rip then use DVD Shrink> File> Open Disc Image( find the files that DVDDecrypter did and click on the .mds file) Shrink will analyze and then you can process accordingly
thanks mike, I'll try the decrypter thing. I've tried it with AnyDVD running, and did not know it made a difference using the method you described. I have tried polishing/cleaning the disks 3 times each, still with errors. The disks look very good, just very minor handling scratches. I even tried a tool that "repairs" bad sectors or ones that are scratched/corrupted, with no luck.
I appreciate the suggestion and will let you know if it works!
