Sorry I derailed this thread. Ireland suggested that you backup your harddrive if you do not want to lose the program.
Blcpearl, AnyDVD does work with very well DvdXCopy 4.0.4.15 . However, it can NOT reduce the speed of your burn. I ran into trouble with certain titles not working on various dvd players due to the speed issue and faster burners. You can NOT control the target size, so it is very imperative that you use GOOD media, especially when doing movie only.
I find CloneDvd2 very confusing compared to DvdXCopy, but that is ME. I find anything to do with computers confusing. I have to do things repetitively to get the hang of things. My oldest boy is condesending and impatient. I have to tell him to guide me through the steps and let me do it or I can't learn. I guess it is spoonfeeding, as some members would say.
ok mackdl, disreguard my (chip on the shoulder) for dvdxcopy. most members here can backup movies without a second thought, even the new protection. check my sig for some good guides. there will be some basic pc skills required for some. practice makes perfect. once u learn these basic skills, u can backup your dvds with mostly free apps. keep reading here at ad and u will have the hang of it in no time at all. some of my favorite free apps are dvddecrypter, dvdfabdecrypter, shrink, pgc edit and VOB blanker, not to mention dvdrebuilder basic and hcc(hanksencoder). yes all of these are free , stick around at ad and u will be using these like a pro in no time at all.
I tried DvdShrink with Nero (with the guides) and messed up so badly my computer needed to be ghosted back to get it working again. Murphy's Law, if it can be broken "I" can do it. LOL.
I finished backing up Bambi 2 with AnyDVD and Xcopy and when I was thinking about the terminology burner and ripper I thought that I was mixing it up, anyhow like I had posted earlier I am not well versed in this area. Thanks for clarifying that AnyDVD is the ripper. I should be the idiot tester of these software packages, because if I can use it anyone can.
Gamename you mentioned something about being bitter about the $150 you lost. I am too I guess that's why I am asking questions in forums like these, I purchased Xcopy from Future Shop for over $100. I noticed in my searches these past few days another software company in Finland had to remove the ripper from their software. This reminded my of 321 all over again and I do not want to shell out more money for not.
Xcopy has lasted me two years without real major issues. As you (gamename) have posted Its time to move on to bigger and better things. I'm going to have more questions and I appreciate everyone's help.
