Jenn, what program did you use? Check the properties of the file and make sure it's in mp4 format. If so, try shortening the file name and opening it in itunes. These are little tricks I had to do myself. I'm new so, I don't really know much else.. someone will have to fill in. :)

sidecca, and anyone else wishing to downgrade from version 1.1 to 1.0;
-Download iPod Updater 1.0 (2005-09-06)
-Connect your iPod to your computer, open the updater you just downloaded, and, once initialization is complete, click 'restore'.

hi im new to this site and i have to admit all the help on ipod's is very helpfull. Now, i have one problem. It's kinda odd because i havn't had a problem puttin videos on my Ipod before, ive put like fifteen on all ready and excellent quality. I used the videora ipod converter. OK so the problem is, I converted the episode of family guy into MPEG-4 and put the movie file into itunes. Then i put it onto my ipod but when i tried to play it in the ipod, ther was a black screen and then the ipod froze!!! So i tried playing it in itunes adn it wokred and i checked the properties and it said mpeg-4
Whatz wrong i haven't had a problem before why is this suddenly happeneig.

you can put videos in that are more than 30 mins.

heres how it should be done:
file-->add folder to library. then select the folder with the converted videos.

if it works on other portable players, then it is not a faulty video

lilnoob,
It may be an issue with your firmware. The firmware version 1.1 released in January has been giving people all sorts of playback issues. If you have version 1.1 firmware, I suggest downgrading your firmware. To do this, have a look at this link. http://www.ipodhacks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=813
Enjoy!!

you have to restore your iPod with the v1.0 software, and then re-load your music/videos back onto your iPod.

These seem to be similar questions to mine, so I'll ask here first. I ripped a DVD using handbrake. It is now a mp4 file and sitting quietly on my desktop. When I try to drag it into iTunes, nothing happens, it doesn't show up. Also, when I try to play it using Quicktime, an error message pops up that reads "Quicktime does not recognize this file" or something to that extent. I don't even have a video iPod yet, to be honest, and was trying to be sure I could get DVD's onto my iTunes account before upgrading from my old iPod.
Any idea why the file does not show up? I did try shortening the name with no success.
Thanks

all i know is to get the .mp4 video to work correctly you have to do it to this setting on videora. MPEG-4/320 X 240/QB4 Stereo/ 96 kbps. maybe that is what you did wrong but i dont know. hope i could help.
