I've just gone through two iterations of AnyDVD, and I think we are all a test suite to these people! The first download 5.9.1.1 refused to work with PowerDVD, the second download 5.9.2.1 (I think) won't work on any player I have. Even as I write this, AnyDVD is telling me there is yet another update. I can't believe I paid for this kind of service!

Fortunately, I still have alternate sources to copy DVDs!

If you the submit the problems you have been having to slysoft,
They WILL fix them in future updates,
Anydvd is constantly updated because the encyptions are always changing.

I have been using ANYDVD/dvd shrink combo for months now,
with no problems.
(Im currently running 5.9.2.1)

good luck.

What problems are you having with AnyDVD? What are you expecting AnyDVD to do with a player such as PowerDVD?

Frequent updates are a good thing to me. It tells me that they are staying on top of all the new encyptions. You don't have to update if you don't want to, but to backup the latest movies, you will. You can always check the update log and see if you need the update or not. No one forces you to update anything you don't want.

I am (along with many, many others) glad to have AnyDVD.

If you perfer alternate methods then by all means use them and don't put down something that I think you don't really know what it does.

FloydV,

Please walk us through the process that you used, using AnyDVD and CloneDVD2.

You mentioned that AnyDVD did not work with PowerDVD. PowerDVD is just a playback program. As such, it does not require any decryption program. Provided that the Region codes have been re-set on your player(s) or eliminated from your back-up.

More info please.

OK, to everyone, sorry about the irrate title. I'm having back pain and the meds are making me a little crazy.

I just use PowerDVD to check my work before I'm finished with a copy.
I went back to 5.9.3.1 of AnyDVD and now at least I can play my copy on my regular Yamaha DVD player (and my Magnavox one). When I went to the next newer version, nothing would play.

I'm using AnyDVD with CloneDVD2 and Verbatim 8x discs. Nothing fancy, just copy and burn. IBM 1.5 Gig P4, with 2 Pioneer 9 G drives. All of a sudden when I went to 5.9.3.1 PowerDVD stops playing. When I went to 5.9.4.1 everything stops playing. Same title, 'The Weatherman', same everything on the computer, same players.
When I went back to 5.9.3.1 the regular Yamaha and Magnavox players start working again, PowerDVD is still dead. I get a "no disc in drive D:" error with Power DVD with 5.9.4.1. When it was 5.9.3.1, the error from PDVD was "object not found." If I back up prior to 5.9.3.1, everything works.

It's late and I will see what I can do with the various revisions tomorrow. It's just that I see this as a too quick release and myself as the test subject.

I can back this title up with DVD Shrink and DVDdecryptor (as the called burner) with no problem and they are free. It's my latest revs of my paid AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 that are giving me the prob.

Back tomorrow.

I'm sure this will be addressed, but I think the releases were premature. This is all Slysoft software.

Don't Use AnyDVD. Use DVDFab. It's basically the same thing but free.

And it updates regularly too.

Don't waste $40 bucks.

DVDFAB is not quite the same thing. With ANYDVD you don't have to rip to the hard disk first. You just insert the disc and let ANYDVD decrypt it(takes about 1 min.) and you're ready to backup. Much faster.

Man, if you talk bad about AnyDVD around here they cut your head off and hang you. Not neccesarily in that order. Just kidding. AnyDVD is one of the best programs out there. It's the best of its kind. If it's broke they fix and now!

New build with goodies

THIS IS WHAT AnyDVD IS ALL ABOUT

AnyDVD works in the background to automatically remove the copy protection of a DVD movie as soon as it's inserted into the drive, allowing you then to backup the movie using a DVD backup tool such as CloneDVD and CloneDVD mobile. You can also remove the RPC region code, thereby making the movie region free and viewable on any DVD player and with any DVD player software.

AnyDVD is capable of removing unwanted movie features, including subtitles and prohibition messages such as copyright and FBI warnings. It also allows you to launch an external application
whenever you insert or remove a disc, or prevent 'PC-friendly' software from automatically launching when you insert a video DVD.

Decryption is not all that AnyDVD offers. You can control the drive speed of your DVD drive, allowing you to reduce the noise level when watching movies on your PC. You can even adjust the display frequency of your monitor for both NTSC and PAL displays.

But AnyDVD doesn't just stop at DVDs. It also decrypts protected audio CDs to allow you to copy them.
Features

* Works automatically in the background
* Removes encryption (CSS) and region code (RPC) from DVDs
* Removes analogue copy protection (Macrovision)
* Removes features such as forced subtitles and warnings
* Decrypts without the need to save the data onto your hard-disk
* Decrypts 'on the fly'
* Prevents automatic launching of 'PC-friendly' software on video DVDs
* Allows adjustment of your monitor refresh rate for both NTSC and PAL monitors
* Allows execution of external programs on disc insertion and removal
* Allows speed control of your DVD drives
* Compatible with all DVD media
* Works with all DVD-drives, regardless of region code
* Works with all DVD copying, such as CloneDVD, and all DVD player software
* Works transparently for the operating system: DVDs can be shared over the network and copied with the command prompt or with Windows Explorer, etc.
* Proven to be stable and fast and does not require an ASPI driver
* Features AnyCDDA: play, copy and rip protected audio CDs

Very well said ireland!
I couldn't have said it better. I will add this: AnyDVD is The Best 39 bucks I have ever spent on a DVD back-up software tool. Period.I also LOVE CloneDVD 2 with it. I would buy them all over again if I had to. I have NEVER had any problems with either of these. In fact, these 2 are all I use anymore. I have Nero 6 Ultra too.

Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

I don't know about anyone else in here, but the only programs I've ever had to use to copy a DVD are DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, VOB Blanker, DVD FabDecrypter, and possibly PGC Edit or IFO edit. Oh yeah, I've also got the DVD 43 v3.7 and it works just fine. Although, I have tried the AnyDVD software, and I will say it's the best stuff out there; but I'm gonna stick w/ the programs I got because as long as I can backup any DVD w/ a free program, I'm sure as hell gonna stick with it instead of spending 40 bucks. Just my opinion. (So don't shoot it down if you think different.)

^^^What he said.

No matter what you guys say about Anyblahblahblah. The point of having AnyDVD is to rip DVD with protection on them.

But DVD43 and DVDFAb are free, and they do the same thing.

So why spend 40 bucks to decrpyt "on the fly"

The deal is the original poster has already bought the program, so he might as well use it...after all it is superior to the free proggy's.

20 Steps? You mean put in disk, decrypt, shrink, burn.

Sounds like 4 steps to me.

one thing many people (myself included) are grateful to AnyDVD for is that it disabled the Sony XCP rootkit crap that could totally screw up your system. that right there was worth $40 (or the $34 i spent lol)

It should be called AnyDVD for ME!!!!

When I do Sony DVD's or RipGuard DVD's I sometimes run into a problem with using AnyDVD along with Recode2. That is when I use DVDFab Decrypter to do that extra step and then use Recode2 to finish it off. So IMO both programs are well worth having!
