If the ISO size is over 4.3gb then yes It will need a re-build. I don't think it needs a patch..no.

The game is only a little over 3.9 Gigs in size, so there should be no need to rebuild.
I burned it at 4x as well and I'm using Swap Magic, too.
It loaded up and played fine for me.
What media are you using, Modano?

i kept trying different programs to record the iso, Alcohol 120 , Nero, and decrypter, no luck . then i got the dloaded PAL version and it works like a charm , burnt at 4x on verbatim. great game by the way. thanks for replying to me question though, i'm still confused why my original NTSC copy didn't take.. maybe one day i'll figure it out , i hate downloading iso's.

That was very lucky if you burned it on 8x and you got no problems
BTW it might vary from the Version of PAL/NTSC, I burnt my PAL one straight no probs

no luck has got nothing to do with it. those instructions saying to burn at lowest speed are outdated. today's burners burn much better at 8-12x than the burners of 5 years ago at 2x.
i burn games at 12x with PIF levels staying below 60 with spikes at 2 only with 0 problems. OWNAGE!
to answer, no black doesn't need anything special. if you have problems it's your media or ps2. as always use DVD+R with DVD-ROM booktype on EA games. working great for me at 12x pinches!

I've just burned this game on a TY DVD-R and it works very smooth. I didn't rebuild or patched anything.
Only minus is that you can't skip the intromovie. :P

3DLUIS, I to burn games at lower speeds until just a week ago when I could not get Fight night round 3 to work without long load times, But then one of afterdawns senior members said to burn it at 8x. so I did and the game came out perfect. So then I tried it with black and again the game came out perfect with just useing DVD Decrypter and verbatim disc. You say I got lucky, I say I have five coaster of fight night round 3 when burned at 4x,2.4x,and 1x not because they would not work but because they would load slow and two games that work perfect when burned at 8x. Now I am not says that this is the best speed to burn at (well not yet), But 0 for 5 and 2 for 2 does make me think that it may not be as bad as so many people made it out to be.

Alright there's few universal rebuilding rules. People think that because a game needs rebuilt for them, that it will for everybody, that simply doesn't hold water. Usually there's no need to rebuild if you're using good media, but that's not always true. Sometimes people's PS2's are picky with EA games, other people's PS2's, not so much. So when someone says this game does/doesn't need rebuilt, it's usually meaningless. Some people will have to rebuild games, others will not.

Tokijin, I agree you with you 100%, But people who use swapmagic are better off to rebuild there games if they are over 4gb. Not because they have to but because they seem to load faster, It never hurts to rebuild a game and come on is it really that hard to rebuild a game.
