yes the fact that it gets hot is normal.. i read on a few reviews that that hapenned to a lot of ppl. as for the wiggling around, idk i had read that someone did something to make it stay still, dont remember what, i think it was somewhere on liksang.com in the reviews. anywho what fw do you have and how slow is it actually?

You are correct in assuming that it is large but how else are you going to cary 4 gigs around with you without spending 500 on a ms of similar stature? Plus even though the load times are slow so are the UMD emulators. Anyway im happy with mine and as for it wiggling around it has two anchors that stick out of the back if you puch them all the way into the unit it will stick well..... maybe two well to be honest its hard to get out.

well.. considering SanDisk is making a 4GB MS for around, if not only a little more $$$$, id return that honking piece of sh*t and wait for it to come out.

Incorrect koasx its not going to be for around the same cost or just a little more.
Lets go through facts.
1. The 4gb hdd by datel is $179, not to mention it comes with a 2x battery.
2. Sony and Scandisks 4gb mspd are going to be over $400 and that is more than double what the datel hdd& 2x battery costs.
So there is big difference in cost. Difference is can you deal with the bulkyness and slowness of the psp or will you shell out extra bucks for the mspd

i guessing you bought the 4gb for the memory not for the looks, so ig uess its not much we can moan about...even though if you pay big paper for it, you would expect it too be user friendly and crap...well its not, so what can we do about it...
Arsenal! =D

ok i got my brother to help me out, he shaved a bit off one of the anchors... it wouldnt fit because there was too much plastic and was to ofat to fit in the hole. the bottom has too little... so it still wiggles. Another thing... its hard to take off, the part that goes where the ms is, well, its starting to split in hlaf... so now im extra careful when i have to take it out. Why do i have to take it out? Because i was watching soem videos on it last night, and all of the sudden, the video stopped palying and the psp couldnt read the hard drive i pushed it out and put it back in, and still nothing. I had to take it off, and put the plastic and them etal together at the end and put it back in.. and it worked.
its pretty annoying, the connector is sensitive on mine, and disconnects constantly.
as for transfer speeds, its not too bad. im usd to tarnsfering file from one comp to another on my network, which took an hour to move a few gigs. i only had a 32 MB MS so i have nothing to compare speeds with.all in all... i wouldnt use this on the bus, holdingit in my hands im scared that ill d/c the hd, so i use it at home. Put it on the table and watch my videos. If i wanan carry 4GB around ide have to buy the MS becuase this thing... has so many flaws.

pretty comparable in price if you ask me, and for the reduce in bulk, well worth it.

My posting to it being cheaper is emplying that at my time of purchase it was considerably cheaper but if the ms comes out for around the same price of course its a better idea its not bulky, consumes less power, wont die of course because its flash memory and has no moving parts, will have faster read and write speads, ohh and finally doesnt have a flimsy connection cabel that makes you take off the rear unit then remove the cord. Which btw is how you get that to last without breaking the cabel ive had mine for around two months now and its doing fine. However if the one you bought is being finicky about connectivity then you should return and replace it either with another or an ms stick if your willing to wait. All said and done i hope the best for ya.

that may be the new expected price. I wasn't aware that they changed the price. But they werent projected to be that cheap before, cause i had read up on this before and the price was higher
http://www.skattertech.com/2006/01/8gb-memory-stick-pro-duo/ and if the 4gb goes down, ill assume the 8gb card price will be lower as well

It still sucks for us 1.5 users because when they release the 4gb and 8gb they are expected to release Firmware 3.0 which will allow your psp to recognize a mspd over 4 gb which in this case will be the 8gb mspd.

Good stuff! Just i take me psp to work (building site) and i bought that hardcore case for it and a silicon jacket, had to modify the case so as the psp would fit in with the jacket on, where if i bought the HD my case or jacket wouldnt fit, so there wouldnt be much protection.

I have the 1st generation datel hdd & X2 battery, i cant play movies or music without lag. I heard the 2nd gen were faster and thus could play multimedia.
When i bought it, it was A$320 (approx 236.467 USD) yes i know its a rip! and the 2gb memory stick was A$320, and 4gb werent even thought of yet,
that is why i bought it.
If mine played music and movies fine id be satisfied, but so far its doing nothing but sit in my draw, and yes you have to be extra careful with it, i stuffed the connector of one, on the very first day i got it, all that being said
who wants to buy my datel ? lol
