Series 3 TIVO is not out yet, Pricing is unknown. Series 2 Tivo can be bought cheaply only with a $13/month or $300 lifetime fee.

You can also buy a Toshiba with Basic :

These will not record Digital cable or Hi-Def.

I would wait for the Series 3.

so if i get thsi tivo with my comcast cable. will all the menus be differentand the way i choose my shows and look up info on shows?

I would NOT buy or , recommend buying it NOW!!!

It can record ONLY standard cable , IT willNOT record DIGITAL Cable or Hi-Def.

WAIT for the Series 3 TIVO, It will be out in the next couple of months. WAIT!!!

it will be able to play back MPEG-4? dfoes that mean i can put my DivX files on a hard drive and connect it to that thing and play those fileS?
