Also PI/PO for some reason didn't work without crossflashing, check one of the first scans tojikin.

Also,in cd dvd speed,i can now choose speeds with CLV,what is that?

are 16x verbs not quality media? I'm using them exclusively for ps2 backups. Are 8x better for that?

Well I've encountered alot of people who've had issues with 16x media for PS2 backups, especially Verb's. I prefer 8x media from my own experiences. You may get by with it, not everybody has issues with it. You'll just have to see. If the 16x Verb's give you issues, then try some 8x Verb's. I've backed up several 8x Verb DVD-R's for a friend of mine, and they all got terrific quality scores with zero playback issues in my v.4 PS2. Here's wikipedia's definition of CLV: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CLV

Will it wear down your laser quicker than using originals? Yes. How much faster? Don't know for sure. The best way to get around this is to use quality Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim DVD media. That'll mininize the stress you put on the PS2 laser. There have been people who've used backups for years and haven't had any problems. I have a v.4 PS2 that's 5 years old and still has the original laser. I got in modded about 5 months ago. I've played through Soul Reaver 2, DQVIII, and played countless other games without any signs of wear and tear. It'll be vary from person to person. Use good media, and the odds are a lot better your laser will have a long life.

Ok,thx,
this is my first big burn with the new firmware,i'm afraid crossflashing wasn't very good..Or not? What caused the big one in the middle?
I'm having write rate issues too i think,it's pretty unstable and even dropped to 0,0x once around 90%. Sometimes it drops back to 2,7x,then going up to 3,7x,before staying at 4,0x for a while.
on cdfreaks some guy said scanning with a benq is better at 8x.
Why is scanning with benq better at 8x?I 've burned this 16x verb at 4x. Shouldn't i be reading at 8x then as well?

That score is fine, scan at the speed you burn it. Some people do it differently, but that's what works me. If you scan it at higher speeds it seems to just pick up way too many errors. Try scanning the same disc at 16x. You'll notice a ton more errors.

anyone?
Also, how come i'm getting much more PI errors since i crossflashed?
I did a new burn, don't have a scan yet, with more then 300000PI errors, and WOPC disabled, since i was burning 16x verbs at 4x,and the score came out better than the last post,96 instead of 91,but i found those lots of PI errors disturbing.

PIE's don't seem to mean as much as PIF's. It's better to have a ton of PIE's than PIF's, though neither is good. Jurgen I really think you're getting carried away with these quality scores. You're missing the main point. How is the playback? If it's good, then the quality scores don't matter anyway. A 96 can have plenty of playback issues. A 50 can have zero. It's just an estimate, nothing more.

I scan my backups alot too. But at the end of the day, the playback is really all that matters.

Yeah the MIJ TDK media has gotten mixed reviews. In general I don't recommend it. Some people swear by it. You can get Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim for cheaper, so I see no reason to use it over those brands. That is an impressive scan.

I haven't noticed any difference in burn quality whether I use ImgBurn, DVD Decrypter, or Alcohol 120%. I have a system I came up with. I like all three programs so here's what I do:

For backing up original games I use Alcohol 120%. It's a very dependable ripper which has only failed me a couple of times.

For burning games I download, I use ImgBurn. ImgBurn is from Lightning UK, the same coders who came up with DVD Decrypter. The similarities are obvious if you use the program. It doesn't rip games, just burns them. It improves over DVD Decrypter's burning capabilities, especially when burning DL discs. The purple line represents jitter.

I use DVD Decrypter when copying a backup onto another disc. I still like the software, so I came with this method to find an excuse to use it. It's free, dependable, and easy to use.

I just came up with this through trial and error. Alcohol 120% is my favorite all around app, I love it's versatility. It burns CD-ROM and DVD-ROM games flawlessy, and can handle any image format I've come across. I don't notice any real difference in burn quality according to which program I use. Largely I use this system because I like all three of these programs very much. I could use Alcohol 120% for everything, but that's boring.

Nah it's free. It's just as simple as DVD Decrypter. Get it here: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download

Like I said, I haven't noticed much difference when using different apps to burn. ImgBurn is just one of a couple different burning applications I like, so I find an excuse to use it.
