opiate691,

Let's remove the email addy from your sig, it's not allowed here. You also might want to read the forum rules you agreed to.

Beatles74,

You need to read the forum rules too. Discussing or asking for cracks, hacks, serials or keygens will get you banned real quick.

@Neph

I think he already has Roxio and wants to uninstall it as per Binkie's instructions. He wants to know where in Roxio is the serial number so he can save it in case he wants to reinstalls it, much like Nero reinstalls. I can't find it in my install but I do have the original cd with key on it.

Oh, shoot. I hate it when I do that.

Beatles74,

I owe you a public apology so please accept my humble apologies. I do this every so often when I get swamped and try to rush through things. You now have one "Neph Owes Me A Favor" card to use at you leisure :)

@ Neph

I love the new killer sig. I would like one like that without the moderator title cause I couldn't harness my enthusiasm for banning some of these mental pigmies.

Yeah, I have Roxio. I just want to find the serial # in my registry.

Apology accepted Neph. I'll take you up on that offer. Where is the serial # for Roxio located in my registry? :o)

I looked thru my EZCD Creator7.1 and I could find no place where my key serial number was listed. Do you have the install disc and or box? If I were you I would leave it on your pc. If you have Nero InCD installed, I would get rid of that. Just don't have any Roxio or Nero start up at boot and they should not interfere with one another. Had both for three years,no problems. If you were not having anyproblems before this latest one and had both installed then it's probably something else. Listen, if Binkie can't find a solution, there might not be one.

Yeah I agree w/ garmoon. If you've had it installed for awhile then you may not need to install it.
It's usually the packet writing part that causes the conflict - just like Nero's InCD.

You might find the serial in regedit. Go to start>run. Type in regedit.
Then click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Under Software look for Roxio. One of the folder under Roxio I would think would have the serial #.

@garmoon
Does Roxio list is as a separate app in add/remove programs like Nero does w/ InCD?

@binkie

No Roxio doesn't give any option in "add/remove" other than uninstalling the whole suite. For the life of me, I can't find anywhere an activation key number might be. In the about roxio pull down they give the tech support id #, but not the install #. I don't prowl in the registry.

Ok, I finally found the time to try and burn a dvd. I did a disk clean up. I upgraded the firmware but I left Roxio alone for now. I'll have to find the time to compare Roxio's and Nero's features. I'm pretty sure there's something about Roxio that I liked better than Nero, or maybe there was something Roxio had that Nero didn't. Anyway, I tried to burn a dvd and IT WORKED!!!! Yay!!!

I hope it stays that way. I think the problem was the firmware. I downloaded it but forgot to run it the last time the burning failed.

I took back that other external burner by the way.

Thanks for all the help, y'all.

Glad you and binkie got it sorted. The only reason I still use roxio is for the sound editor program there. I've used it for years and I know how it works. Especially the recording feature which I use to get analog music to digital format.

What exactly can you do with the sound editor from Roxio? I was using Nero's Wave Editor before Nero decided I don't need it anymore. My ex-gf said she doesn't have the serial number on her PC anymore (yeah right) so I guess I'll have to use the free Audacity or something else. Can you edit songs with the Roxio one? What I like to do is cut off the 1 or 2 seconds of silence before a song or the 6-8 seconds after a song. I also like to fade in and out live tracks. Or, just turn the volume up on a song that has very low volume (mostly from early CDs from the 80s).

You can do all of that and more. You can splice 2 mp3s together, or insert a splice into an mp3. Nifty program. Change volume or say fade out the end of a live tune when applause starts. Change pitch (key signature).

Ok, I've been burning dvds for the last week. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it failed. Usually, it seemed to be if I lowered the speed, it would work fine. Well, last night I tried 3 times and it failed. Before I get rid of Roxio, I figured I'd post the error report and see what y'all have to say one more time.

Hey Beatles74
Have the new log to post?

I'm thinking you're probably still getting the power calibration error.

Another thing to try to is to clean the lens of the drive. Either use a dvd lens cleaner or try blowing some canned air in there.

Other options are trying the drive on the slave connection (just be sure to change the jumper pin on the back of the drive to slave).
And/or try other power connector off of the power supply.

Yep still the same error and a lot of memory in use - 81%.

Besides the suggestions in my post above may be time to try uninstalling Roxio and run the zap tool. Hopefully you can find the serial # for it.

Another burning program you may want to try is ImgBurn.
Free and not any conflicts w/ other programs that I know of.

Use the build mode to add the movies files from Shrink.

Hi guys,
I have been reading through posts for the last couple of days but I've had to come out and ask for some more help....

I too am having issues with DVD Shrink and Nero autoburn. I have backed up several movies in the past with no problem, then one day Nero just fell over and wouldn't burn. I checked the version of Nero and it was indeed a later version, so I uninstalled it. (I'm confused as to how it burnt multiple dvds with no problem in the past, because from what I've read DVD Shrink and Nero-post-version-6.6.0.18 don't get along).

I have re-installed the old version (6.6.0.18) after running the cleantool, but I am still getting the Burn failure error. I have even uninstalled and re-installed DVD Shrink but I'm still having no luck. Usually I would try and figure all this out for myself, but it's at the stage where it's really driving me crazy! Below is the log after the fail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.... Thanks heaps guys.

Just an update: I still haven't had any success with burning from Shrink/Nero so I tried ImgBurn and so far it's working fine. I hate that I have to go through one more long ass step but at least I'm burning again. I can't wait till I get a new PC.

Hey, Greety, I suggest trying out Imgburn. Basically, use the previous method of Decryptor then Shrink (if you need to) then use Imgburn. Honestly, I didn't find the guides on their site too helpful. They seemed to be written for people who are familiar with burning, which fortunately I am. I like my hand held on guides. I want to be treated as a foreign exchange student who can't speak English. When I first started burning last year, I had no clue what to do and the Shrink guide was very helpful. It told you everything, step by step, in plain English and did a very good job of explaining. Even though I am familiar with burning (from using Shrink only) I still had to figure out what to do with Imgburn on my own. They helped, but they weren't explained well in my opinion. Anyway, give that a try if nothing else works.

I haven't gotten rid of Roxio yet since I'd like to try out their wave editing program, which I haven't had time to do yet. If I'm not satisfied, I'll get rid of Roxio and give Shrink a try again. If anything, I have Audacity, which is ok. I'd still have to get used to the feel of it.

Ok, I'm rambling. I'm outta here like water heater.

Hi greety
Here's a few more suggestions for you.

Recorder: <LITE-ON DVDRW SHM-165H6S>Version: HS0D
Update the firmware - the latest is HSOE.

DiskPeripheral : WDC WD2000JB-55GVA0 08.0 nvidesm Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off
DiskPeripheral : WDC WD1200JB-00CRA1 17.0 nvidesm Port 0 ID 1 DMA: Off
CdRomPeripheral : LITE-ON DVDRW SHM-165H6SHS0D nvidesm Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off
DiskPeripheral : IOMEGA ZIP 250 51.G nvidesm Port 0 ID 1 DMA: Off

Check and make sure DMA is on for all drives. Nero doesn't report drives connected by anything other than ide correctly so this may not be a problem.
Here's a guide to get you in the right direction - link.

Burn process failed at 16x
Take it down to 8x.

Keep us posted - good, bad or otherwise.

Hey Beatles74
Good to hear you're having some success!
Yeah the guides at ImgBurn are quite lengthy.

You can set Shrink to autoburn w/ ImgBurn - just need to download a tweak for Shrink. Here's a link.

I know this isn't the right section for this reply, but I just wanted to know if you guys know anything about the VIDEO_TS thing with VobBlanker? I have DVDFAB Decrypter, DVD FIXVTS, Nero, DVD Shrink, & IMG Burn. I can not figure out when I get done with DVDFAB what else needs to be done to burn a copy of a movie. The VobBlanker isn't finding what DVDFAB Decrypted.

@AgentBlaq
After you rip w/ DVDFab you might not need to run it thru VobBlanker. But only takes maybe 5 mins so can't hurt.
You need to open the ifo file on the video_ts folder.

Here's a guide for DVDFab, VobBlanker & Shrink - will give you details on how to use VobBlanker. link

ok guys, I know there is probably a real easy solution to this problem, but I am currently stumped.

I had to load all my backup software on a new machine and now I am having issues with autoburn in my shrink.

I am using DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15
ripit4me 1.7.1.0
and decrypter 3.5.4.0
nero oem suit 6.3.1.11

on my old machine, I never had a problem but on my new one I can't get autoburn to work.

The only other issue I can guess at is that my new machine was preloaded with sonic.

Any Ideas?

To Go Back To Nero 6.6.0.18

Write down your Nero serial# and then uninstall version 6.6.1.4 from your system using the general cleantool found here:

http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/General_CleanTool.html

After using the clean tool you might want to use a registry cleaner like ccleaner which is free here:

http://www.ccleaner.com/download/downloadpage.aspx?1

Then defrag your HDD

Next, download and install version 6.6.0.18 from the links provided, re-enter the serial# and you're good to go.

nero version 6.6.0.18 updates:
Package 1
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Ner....0.18_no_yt.exe

Package 2
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

Do NOT install InCD just the 2 above packages.

New Links
Package 1:
http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe
Package 2:
http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

Now you should be able to autoburn with Nero
