Can someone please help me, i have been search many forums but cannot find wot i am looking for.
I have a 30gb video ipod which i have been using and works fine. it has firmware version 1.1 installed on it.
i recently ripped one of my family guy dvds and converted it into mp4 using videora ipod convertor which i have used many times for movies. i imported the episodes into itunes and named them. i then changed the video type to tv show. i then disconected from itunes and went to the videos menu on the ipod. the tv shows menu is not there only movies, music videos and video podcasts. i have tried restoring the ipod but this didn't help.
Please can someboy help me
Thanks in advance SEAN

Hi buddy, this is how it is.
Your videos will only show up under the 'tv shows' menu if you purchase them from iTunes. Otherwise, it simply will not display on your iPod.
Sorry :-(

There is a program called ipodtvshow. It is a little tedious, but works.

Once the application is opened. The user selects the file then types in details in the blocks provided in the program. For example:
TV Network:
Show Name:
TV Episode:
Episode#:
Season#:
The user hits the "apply" button and the program creates a temp file of the video (in the same directory). It works with Atomic Parsley progam. Thus; once the user hits "apply", a little black screen pops up and one sees the file being written. It takes maybe 10 SECONDS to do one 21 minute episode. After it's done. Drag the new file into Itune TV Shows and it will be there. It's cool little program, but if you have like 21 episodes, it can be tedious. For me, I am glad not to see it under my Movie Section on the IPod Video.

Atomic Parsley is a great program -- it has helped me to make several programs for my videos..

Well there you go - you have someone confirming recorded televison shows do NOT have to be purchased through ITunes to get them to display correctly in the TV Shows section.
If possible, perhaps the procedure should be mentioned under the FAQ section. I am sure there is more than one person trying to get the tv shows files to display correctly in ITunes.

taichi66- Yea, I'll add it to the FAQ when I get time. Usually when I suggest things a little more complicated than the basics of iTunes/iPod, people don't want to know. But I'll stick it into the FAQ, and If you have any more suggestions for the FAQ, please kindly add your suggestion as I will be adding a lot of questions & answers to it soon.

one thing you can do is create a playlist in itunes entitled tv shows, and put the shows there. You can change the info to tv shows instead of movies. When you open the video section in your ipod, just go under video playlists and it will be there.

No you can't. That method only works for iTMS purchased videos, hence the suggestions of loopholes ;-)

Yea, I installed the visual basic 6.. and ran the AtomicParsley which only ran in a cmd for a sec.. then i ran it from cmd.. worked.. but then when i run ipodtvshow i get an error... "Component 'COMDLG32.OCX' or one of it's dependencies not correctly registerd: a file is missing or invalid"
One clue what the prob is.
I tried installing the visualbasic again.. installs some dlls etc.. but no confirm of any sort.. should i get a "done installing etc" or something?
Any help is appreciated thx.
