Ok so i got this radio remote on tuesday from the apple shop at the trafford centre, manchester, uk and it has worked fine until today...

Basically my iPod doesnt recognise it and the 'Radio' option does not come up on my main menu or music menu like it should do. another thing is it wont skip tracks. All its basically doing is playing the music through it and change the volume but its not changing the volume on the iPod. its changing the volume on the remote itself (which it isnt sopposed to do) if you get me.

Is there anything i can do to test it or fix it before taking it back to the apple shop?

P.S no it doesnt work on my sisters nano either. and my firmware is v1.1.1

This may be a new problem of v1.1.1. Since it is a new firmware, the problems aren't yet known. I would downgrade to v1.0 and see if that helps it.

well it did work on my sisters nano on v1.1.1 as far as i can remember.... anyways it says v1.1 or above So lets wait and see what the guy at the store says. But i did go on the apple forums and someone's radio remote still had the same problem on v1.1 (v1.1 is the minimum firmware version you can have)and v1.1.1 so it might be a fault in the product.

Well i got a new one xD

The guy at the apple store was a bit puddled - i think he was new and didnt know a lot about the iPod. He first tried to get me to downgrade to v1.1 firmware - so he asked someone at the 'genius-bar' could you downgrade without restoring... the came back and said no you cant... He wanted me to go home and restore it and then try the iPod remote... stupidity!

We then finally got him to try it on his iPod with v1.1 and it didnt work so he gave me a new one - why didnt he do that in the first place????????

Moral of this story - Not all apple store workers are geniuses or even smart!
