"The" is always ignored when organizing songs on the iPod
Quote: I have my backlight off all the time. If i want it on what do i have to push without going to setting and chaning it. I know 1,2,3g ipods you had to push menu or enter for couple of second. I dont know???
Hold the "Menu" button for about two seconds.. job done..
Quote: How can i move the ALL SONG so it can automaticly shows all song with out clicking all songs. Some of the artis i don't even have to do that.

Are you using firmware v1.1 (Updater 2006-01-12) by any chance? Because that firmware will not allow you to alter the backlight manually - it's one of the many bugs that this firmare version has. I suggest you upgrade to version 1.1.1 or downgrade to version 1.0 if you are running v1.1.
As for your secong query, unnfortunately you cannot change this, as this is just the way the iPod organizes your music.
The only thing you could do is create a smart playlist for each artist. Then all of their songs would appear as you select them..

hi
well, this is the good thing about organising your music on iTunes!!
if the band name starts with a "The" then the "The" wouldn't be counted, but the word AFTER the "The" so, The Click 5 would be alph. as "C" and The Darkness would be alph. as D.
There!

Why would you want to do this?
Quote: Does ipod installter automatcily update a new firmwere?
Yes, it does. If you update the iPod with the download at the link in my last post, then it will give you v1.1.1 firmware on your iPod.

why would i not want to? My ipod is already 1.1.1

Yeah, i already know that, I meant will it automaticly update if new firmware comes out. LIke v1.2. If it doesn't automaticly update, there is no point of having this program after i use it.

Oh, sorry about the misunderstanding. no it won't automatically update for you, you have to check the apple website to see if a new one comes out. So, you can uninstall the iPod installer if you alreay have it installed. ;-)

rihgt682, patience is a virtue, my friend ;-)
in iTunes, go File ==> New Smart Playlist.
(Have a look at the following example)
All you have to do is repeat the process for each artist, so instead of "Kelly Clarkson", you may wish to do one for "The Black Eyed Peas", and so on & so forth.

Press PrtSc to make a screenshot (possibly located on the right-hand side of your keyboard above "Insert").
Then open MSPaint (or whatever your favourite image editing proggy is, and paste it in. There, you can crop/add text etc. to explain things more clearly :-)

Take a screen shot and go into MS Paint, click the square key and put the square around what you want. Cut that image, and then paste it into a new window of MS Paint. Save it and you're on your way.
