@Baltekmi,
Is it pentium or celeron?

I have a 2.4 ghz 800 FSB Pentium 4 C "northwood" overclocked stable to 3.2 ghz witn a DFI lanparty 875B PRO REV B. I of course am using an aftermarket heatsink. I have it 1:1 FSB 267 with OCZ PC4200 1024 MB Performance Edition. I get pretty good benchmarks for what I have. This motherboard is very stable and I perferred it over the Asus P4C-800 Deluxe. Hope this helps with your 2.4 ghz chip.

A quote from Tom's Hardware Guide article dated May 22, 2006:
http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/05/22/six_975x_enthusiast_mother...
Quote: Intel has emerged victorious in preliminary benchmark runs that compared the 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo E6700 against an overclocked AMD Athlon 64 FX-60. Those test systems were assembled and installed by Intel, but our own benchmark results give little reason to doubt the company's performance claims. In fact, we are pretty sure that Intel will at least make up for the current gap in performance and energy efficiency - it will likely overtake AMD sometime this summer.
But the Texans are not asleep, of course. The platform change will transition both the mainstream Socket 939 and the budget Socket 754 to the new 940-pin AM2 socket - "one platform to rule them all". Performance levels will initially not change much; Socket 939 and AM2 processors at equal clock speeds perform more or less alike. Although looking much faster on paper, the new DDR2-800 memory interface provides only small performance benefits when compared to its DDR400 Socket 939 counterparts. However, DDR2 RAM is indeed quite beneficial in terms of lowering memory costs per megabyte: you can expect 2 and 4 GB RAM soon at the cost you pay for 1 or 2 GB today. If you wonder why you may need 2 GB of RAM or more, think long term - think Windows Vista.
Although AMD's 90 nm SOI manufacturing cannot keep up with Intel's winning combination of a 65 nm process and the efficiency-tuned Core 2 micro architecture, AMD is working on its own 65 nm process. The firm will stick to its elaborate silicon-on-insulator manufacturing, so we expect it to be back in the race as soon as the yields allow output of high-speed parts in quantity.

well let me start off and ask is all the polatics in here over..lol
as Micheal Jackson once said cant we all just get along???? enough from me..lol
now back to the D805. i see alot of board out there that are being bulit with the D820 why if the 805 is better would they use the 820? i dont mean people building there own in here, talking about places like DELL.HP. etc....ive been looking at some of there sites and they dont even offer the 805 as a option just 820 and up?i mean i know its about the money and the 820 is more, but if the 805 is a better CPU why wouldnt you use it?
im not completely sold on the D805 yet but leaning that way. for my first build. as for the amd's is there a better CPU from them then the D805? from what i have been looking at and pricing for(amd) some reason the good stuff from amd is higher than intel. which is a total reversal from things in the past. am i just miss informed or totally lost???

That's scary, MJ has just this second come on itunes random shuffle. Weird. As for the D805 it's a slow CPU without OCing and I can't see Dell endorsing OC, so maybe that's why.

Yeah that'd be my guess, OEM builds aren't usually capable of being OCed.

It's all good but unless you're a dedicated hardcore of Crossfire, I'd pick a normal motherboard and up to 2GB of RAM. The 1900XT will prefer having 2GB of system memory.

I've been running Patriot now in all my computers w/o any problems and my new build will have it to. Very down to earth pricing,quality & support. Of course this is my own opinion [from New egg & Micro Center]. Cheers Chris

Right now that monitor is a cover page offer of $299.99 at http://www.tigerdirect.com/ and I seriously thought about it with my new build (parts in tomorrow) but the cost had already skyrocketed. Any tips on getting my ASUS A8N32-SLI up and running out of the box easy?

aabbccdd: Hell yes, 2ms Viewsonic monitors, cream of the crop. Forgot to mention about the email address, It just didn't occur to me. Patriot RAM is high quality stuff tbh, but Corsair seems to be the esteemed favourite.
That mobo should be easy to set up anyway, plug it in and off you go much like most boards. You may want to acquaint yourself with the manual though, it has bucketloads of features.

I Agree with the ram. me and chips are friends from school.
i dont agree with the LCD, the viewsonic is known to have some ghosting on it, BTW: i think i got a bad one, but i can only overclock my 3700 to a 2.55 stable? whats the deal? thats not messing with the voltage though..
and the asus motherboards are known for their stability and quality, so you should not have any problembs.

Viewsonics aren't known to have ghosting in my books, that's the whole point of the 2ms. Tbh 2.55 isn't bad for a 3700 if you haven't adjusted the voltage.

@jpchipps,
For an extra $62 why not go for an Athlon 3800x2?

If it's affordable then absolutely. I assumed since he chose a single core that was the limit of his budget. an X2 is far better though.

Well, I dont think I'll be able to the Athlon 3800+ simply cuz my budget wont support that, even $62 over.
:-/
But its cool.
