YAY FOR SAMMORRIS!

Anyhoo. had a heat spike and found my heat sink hadn't secured all the way into the bracket and popped back out. Reapplied Ye Olde Arctic Silver and made sure is was all secured. Running fine :)

Awww, what's wrong with having eight cores? :P
barring the 300W power consumption of course! I think I'll hold off on CPUs until I can see where all this quad core business is going...

Whereas in the dog eat dog world of graphics unfortunately it's still perpetual upgrades. By summer I'll probably have caved in to buying an 850 thermaltake and an R600 graphics card...

I haven't come across a fanboy have I? I don't claim to be a fanboy, but in the past instances, the best products for me have been ATi and AMD products. Had I chosen to upgrade my PC in August of this year rather than earlier I may well have gone with a Core 2 Duo since they are clearly better, and indeed, for the best graphics performance now I have to recommend an 8800GTX, but I couldn't get one as it wouldn't fit in my case, which I am definitely not replacing!

Yeah, the 8800GTX's performance comparable to my card is amazing, and since the R600 will be out much later than the 8800, its performance should be even better.

iv read that not all the new cards will have gddr4, and that nvidia also has it lined up for the spring.

i like the fact that, with 4x4, you can get 1 cpu then add another and more ram later. i dont like the psu/heat issues tho.

Doesn't the 8800GTX have DDR4? Hmm, well blimey, I thought it did. Imagine what the R600's 2.2Ghz 1GB of GDDR4 will achieve then, estimates are at well over 100GB/s for it...
