this problem looks all to familuar to me bud , i was haveing the same issues and the cause was my explorer.exe was way out of wack !!

open your task manager and kill the explorer .exe then tick file in the left hand corner and reload the explorer and try burning .

you should spend some time cleaning your machine and deleting off problematic files especially the video files that seem to make yr machine run crappy everytime you try to open it !!!

hope this may help as this was the culprit for my successfull yet not successfull burns .

Its not the dvd, I just burned a game from a .iso and its working. I also tried using another dvd but I got the same error. Closing explorer.exe doesnt seem to do anything. The firmware says I already have the newest update. I didnt make another log this time, I think my brother closed it before I woke up...

I dont think the cleaning tool is completely wiping nero off my comp as i get a runtime error near the end. Its too bad 7.2.0 whatever I was using when I made this post doesnt work, it seems to have a few neat features.

Bump, I dunno what to do, I dont want to waste anymore DVDs so Ill wait awhile till I get some assistance again.

Righty.. I found this helped.. and BTW I think Nero 7 is rubbish and tried going back to 6 too with similar results... Uninstall Nero completely. It leaves a few folders in strange places so do a search for them. Then run a good registry cleaner ( I used to use CleanMyPc pro) and kill every other Nero entry you find.. Then delete the contents of the recycle bin and reboot. First thing after rebooting is check the registry cleaner again and if everything is clear insatll Nero 6, but don't install the media players with it.. just express and burning rom. Leave the startsmart thing alone, don't install that either. With some luck that should cure the problem, just don't let it update itself or you will be back to square one
