I am not sure what your problems is but coming here and giving out FALSE information is somthing that people just do not take kindly to. You can say it is true all you want but since pretty much everyone else posting in this post thinks your wrong i would figure by now you would just get the message and pipe down already
1. printable discs are NOT the best for backing up games. I have tested many kinds of discs, and other than Memorex, the printable type gave me more coasters by far then the non-printable.
2. Philips are a personal choice. After 2 years i have still had 100% success rate with them. So as far as i am concered they have proven themselves worthy. The Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden and others people have talked about have also been proven by many sites and independant test. So there is no disputing that either.
3. PS2's are made just Fine. You just do not know how to use or take care of yours. I have a V5, V7 & V12 and every one still works. The only system i don't own is the Gamecube as most of those games are for kiddies and not my cup of tea so to speak. And my V5 and V12 are chipped systems. Wear and tear after several years will wear out things like the laser. It is no different for any DVD Burner/reader made by any company on that planet. After heavy use and several years they wear out.
So i am not sure what your major malfunction is here, but people are posting to get some help. Not to sit here and have to read your useless, unhelpful posts and opinions.
Opinions are fine to have and welcome when people actually ask for them. but instead you post things like this:
"you shouldnt have a problem with any game for ps2 all you need to do is get DVD Decrypter then go"
If he uses Swap Magic that is so untrue i will not even go into all the reasons why. Have you never heard of the site swapmagicfix.com? it is there for a good reason. If you want to help out people that's great. But get the information you need before making statements like that.

give me 1 piece that is false that i have said
1)Im just saying what ive experiennced with my v9 scph-50002 ps2 and on that i tried immation discs verbatim and didnt work ( worked but lagged) so i went to a computer shop and bought a pack of 50 riteck DVD-R 8x printable discs and they worked fine till my ps2 stuffd.
2)You dont need to patch games to play wiht swap magic because i just burn them wiht dvd decryptor and it runs fine on my ps2 slim v14 with magic keys 2 and swap magic 3.6
3)I dnt hate ps2's i just reckon that nintendo's last longer than sony consoles im also saying this from past experience but trust me i would never change my ps2 for a nintendo even though i reckon nintendo's have better quality.
and I appologize for saying phillips dosent work i have also never tested phillips cause when i saw that ritek worked there wasnt any point trying new one's
Hopefully this clears some things up i ve said

may have been a bit harsh on you. But some of the information is still incorrect.
Some games will have to be patched or rebuilt no matter what version of Swap Magic you use or what version PS2 you have.
the only way to avoid that is by getting a good mod chip, which is the very best mod you can have for your PS2
Getting a game to work depends on a lot of factors, so when long time members here like myself give out information we try to avoid as many possibilities for failure as we can.
8X DVD-R non-printable will be about the most compatible you can get.
8X DVD+R IF your burner can booktype a disc to DVD-Rom, and is V4 or above.
The quality of the disc, found by getting the disc ID, can greatly improve your results.
The laser in your PS2 plays a factor as some read certain discs better than others. My old V5 had no problmes at all with TDK. Both my V7 and V12 hate them and they are very glitchy. So i do not reccomend them for the reason that 2 out of 3 PS2's i have owned did not work with TDK. While all 3 will play Philips and Taiyo Yuden just fine.
With games it is really about finding the most common things that will work for everyone rather than giving them information on what worked for yours.
I appologize for being a bit short tempered.

dazila, u see you and i and many others are in the process of learning. we don't know everything, therefore, we should respect the opinion of those who know a lot more than us ie. steimy, dan, etc. instead of arguing with them.
i hope you will have a good time at AD and will let other ppl hav a good time as well.
take care.

All I can suggest is doing a search in google, as I've never come across a list of games that needs to be patched/rebuilt, and I never bothered looking out for them cos I don't have the need to, but a search in google and afterdawn and if you can't find answers then there probably isn't one :)
@sulaim
Hey mate haven't seen you around before, and looked at your profile you've been here longer than I have too :) please don't compare me with steimy, I'm nowhere near his level yet :)

That's the older version of rebuilding, that works on all games I think, there's this new tool called Gnie's Expert or something, a link to the tutorial: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/18/275350
It's apparently a lot easier to use, but not compatible with all games (needs plugins for each game I think).

another place for good PS2 tools including Gnie Expert
http://ps2burns.host.sk/tools.html
But i also have a chip and have not used Swap Magic in about a year so the newer games i would not know which need rebuilding.that is just one great advantage a chip has, never need to rebuild a game.
But any DVD9 like The Guy Game, God Of War, GT4 will need rebuilding
Bloodrayne 2, Mercenaries, Total Overdose, Fifa Street
are some that i remeber needing to be rebuilt off the top of my head

You mean why it doesn't need rebuilding? Not all games needs to be rebuilt, a lot of the games I played when I used swap magic a while ago didn't need to be rebuilt. Generally you only rebuild games for one of two reasons:
1) The TOC is larger than 4.35GB
2) Compatibility issue

wat if the toc is less then 4.35gb like the god father which is3.9gb on a original copy does that mean if i brnt it it would runwithout rebuilding and gt4 wouldnt cause its 5.2gb is tat how it goes or am i still not getting it and i cant remember where i think swap magic site it said sumtin bout putting a swap magic disc in then sumtin about putting a game wiht the highest toc u have n taking it out n putting a burnt one in is it true?
Sorry to keep bothering u

Like I said, some games NEED to be rebuilt even though it's under the TOC limit, so there's no sure way to tell as far as I know (unless you can find a list)...
Yes I know you can refresh the TOC size, not sure how to do it though, have a look on the swap magic website (http://www.swapmagic3.com/) and see if you can find anything

Does any one know if any N64 emulators exist that you can use on a ps2 with swapmagic ?
If anyone knows how would you be able to run it on the ps2 and how do you burn the emulator and the games?

i'm not, not without looking at it myself, all i'm giving you is a suggestion, i'm not telling you that i'm 100% certain that's the case, instead a personal opinion based on experience
