How do you merge a subtitle file to the movie?

I'm having trouble trying to merge or embed a subtitle file (.srt, .idx, .sub, etc.) to an AVI movie.
Nero vision (version 3.1.0.7) to burn movies to dvd but it doesn't support separate subtitle files. I know that their are other programs that support separate subtitle files, but those softwares can't make a title menu for the movie.

So why you don`t merge those subtitles using that Subtitle Workshop and if you need to, you can merge .avi files with software Virtualdub(MOD)
