...and I'm sure it's been answered somewhere, but I searched and couldn't find a soultion.
I burned a PS1 .bin file with a .cue using Alcohol 120%, I used "Playstation" on the drop-down menu, I burned at 4x on a drive that burned working Dreamcast games in the past, on media that did the same.
But when attempting to load the disc on my PS2 Slim, I got a "Disc Read Error"
Strangely enough, when attempting to EMULATE the Playstation, using the ePSXe emulator, the disc read fine and the game even loaded great...
The game mentioned was Suikoden 1 USA, from an BT download, with comments on it saying it worked.
My PS2Slim is premodded with a DMS4 Pro SE + HDCombo Case + ToxicOS
Thanks in advance for reading this and I applogize in advance for not being able to find the applicable thread.

PS2 tends to be picky about CDs, I think I've seen a thread on converting CD to DVD with PS1 games, not sure if that works or not cos I've never tried it, but your best bet is probably to stick with ePSXe or pSX

Hmm, well the problem with that is, the main reason I GOT a pre-modded system is that I wanted to be able to play backups games...so to avoid playing backup games on it would be a large waste of money. xD Any other ideas?
Also I'm not sure how converting a CD to DVD would help, but I can't see how it would work, and it sounds extremly strangle. Converting a 700 MB disc to a 4 GB one? I dunno, it just doesn't sound very plausable.

Ooooh, ya sure? Cause when I do it chooses things like "RAW" on the burning selections, etc etc. Do you know what I should choose for that? And should I just go with "normal cd" in the drop down menu?

@Pspness
like he said in the first post, he's got a DMS4 Pro SE, which supports PS1 games.
And you SHOULD choose PS1 in the drop down menu... :)

X_X I should use the Playsation menu option? Then....? I'm confused here.
I know PS2 is picky about discs, but besides the potiental converting a cd to a dvd, isn't there's something else I can do? I know I've seen PS1 backups played on a modded PS2 before...?

Have you tried other PS1 games? Could be a game specific issue, but I don't own that game so I can't say for sure if it works or not

DMS4 Pro SE is one of the best chips you can get (the other is matrix infinity green dot) and I'm pretty sure it plays PS1 games without problem... do you have other PS1 games you can try?

xDD Good point about trying other games. I guess I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong... Any recommendations about a game that has always worked for you in the past? Fortantly I have alot of CDRS to test this out with...(though downloading ISOs takes awhile, even with 3 mb/s DSL xD)
Yes, I have other non-backups I could try, but I'm sure they'll work, it's more the backuped PS1 games.
Yeah, I thought the chip was good, it was the most expensive. xD
I'm suprised a senior member would double post. :P No offenese though, you've been helpful.

Yea, it SHOULD play it with no problem, wonder what the problem is... do you have any original ps1 games? of so, then make and image then burn it, and try it out.
Peen!

Ah good point, I could dump the game with either Alcohol or Isobuster, (which would you guys recommend more?) and then burn it and try that...I guess it'd be worth it to test, though it seems like a lot of time to get another copy of a game youa already have xD
Good idea though, nether the less.

lol yeah thought you've replied so i hit the reply button then I realised I was looking at another thread ><
I haven't tried many PS1 games on my PS2, I play them using ePSXe, but yeah like Pspness said, try ripping your original and burn it and see if that works... I was going to say it might be a bad image, but if it works on ePSXe that rules out that possibility.
I could try it on my PS2 but unfortunately like I said I don't own that game and it'll take me ages to get hold of it :(

Yeah Alcohol 120%. One of the only two burning programs I use for games (the other being DVD Decrypter for PS2 DVD games)
@Pspness
You mean ePSXe? If it loads up for him I don't see why it wouldn't.... ePSXe works even on my PIII 450 :)

Ah okay Alcohol it is. Though, it's 3 AM and I have work tommarow...but who needs sleep when modding can be done! xD
Hmm so what game? I think I'll do with Chrono Cross or Final Fantasy VII-IX...any better chance that any of them will work better than others?

Hmm btw, what burning speed should I go with? I've read countless "SLOWER SPEEDS ARE BETTER" guides, but recently I saw one here saying "SLOWER SPEEDS = BAD, GO WITH REGULAR SPEED" Which should I believe? X_X

With DVDs you burn at half the rated speed, CDs I find it doesn't really matter, I usually burn at 8-16x, it takes no time to burn at these speed at all and isn't too fast (compared to 52x) and never have problems with it. You WILL get problems if you try to burn at max speed for CD/DVDs I find

Success!
Burning at 16x did it! I think 4x was somehow too slow. Both the Chrono Cross copy, and the 16x speed Suikoden copy work perfectly. Now when I get the 300 GB internal HD in the mail, I can speed up the load times. :D!
Thanks alot for your help guys, glad to see I was finally able to get it working.
Strange Side Note: I couldn't get any of the 16x copies to work on ePSXe, but then agian I haven't fixed the config of that emulator in awhile, and more importantly, I don't care! I can finally PLAY BACKUPS! :D
