Okay, im a bit scared to run the downgrader for 2.6 to 1.5. I have all the nessecary file including the DOWNDATER folder from 1.5. If i was to run the downgrader, and brick my PSP would i be able to send my PSP to sony and say something like it got bricked during an update? I am also set to go for it though. I have:
2.01 > 2.6 (non factory)
TA-081 motherboard - im pretty sure. There is no number on the right side but on the other side it says IC6001
Am i good to go?

You will not be able to send it to sony if you bricked it trying to downgrade it. Your best bet is to get one from best buy and get the extended warranty. You can pee on the damn thing, fry the mobo, and theyll hand you a brand new one. Done it quite a few times, well not peeing on it, but i purposely broke mine to get a brand new one. Stupid Dead pixels.

you guys are wrong sony has taken back bricked psps... you have to really plead your case on the phone and tell them that u had a power outage at our house while updating your psp.. if you are persuasive enough they will do it, because they have in the past

well yea cause if you tell them that you are upgrading your psp and the power went out that really falls on your electric company not you per say. so you just get loud and angry with them(a friend of mine did this) and go on about how its not your fault and the electricity really went out and they will replace it.
however i have told ppl to do this before and they werent successful, while others were. it depends on how persistant you are and of course whatever supervisor you get on the phone.
From my understanding you will be transfered to a supervisor if you have this kind of gripe.

I just am to nervous to do it. I think i'll see what you can do with this 2.6 Kernal Mode and then thinks abou it again.

Wow, that power outage is a good idea!
Of course, if you get an intelligent assistant who says no, you could keep ringing until you get a dippy one! :P

Dude im guessing 1000 plus people have done the downgrade sucussfully don't worry about it! Its not going to brick unless you can't follow very simple instructions. I downgraded mine and all went well.

Was that a 2.6 emachine? I have just bought one 2 days ago and it has 2.6 on it but for the moment I am going to wait and see how people get on.
Q. There is a certain model of 2.6 that you cannot downgrade to 1.5 where does it tell you this on your psp?

Mine was a 2.6 I bought used on ebay, but I was pretty sure it was a 2.0 or 1.5 stock because of the games he had launch games so... Yeah if you have a factory 2.6 I wouldn't try it.

Guys, I don't wanna turn this place into a request forum, but I'm having the same predicament that Kutz was having......I've got everything except the required 1.5 files! Can someone please oblige?!
Also, once I've downgraded to 1.5, I presume I can play my own UMD games straight from the memory stick....questions:
how do I rip the games in the first place?
how do I load them in 1.5?
what if they require a newer firmware (do I need to use DevHook, is it?)?
Many thanks
PJ

Sony never give u a PSP for free if urs brick while updating or downdating but they offer you a trade in for aroung £65 but that sucks cos my psp got bricked from upgrading and the power really did go out in ma house.
