I was searching through google and I found this webpage that had some guys almost finished wihth a 2.71 downgrader. I don't really trust the site ut they are getting progres dont the downgrader. They actually have part of the downgrader running.

its not a fakey site, but even people like dark_alex are doing what they are doing, as on the website it doesnt anywhere say that they will be releasing one but it says their current goal is to try to find exploits within the 2.71 fw, if any

I agree. You can get that far on the 2.00 update file without doing anything >_> (IIRC)

I know they suck at hacking but at least someone else is "working" on it also. (even if they make no progress) That way you can tell other crazy kids who are mad that they updated that someone is "working" on it! :)

i bet all they did was unpack the eboot.pbp of the 2.71 update and change the info in param.sfo
seeing as there is a psar dump which can decrypt the data.psar file and hence all the individual files of the 1.50 update are available. If it is possible to decrypt the files, then it cant be long until a encrypter is created. Once this is done all the necessary files in the 1.50 update can be edited to report the update as a 2.72 (or any version required), re-encrypt the data.psar (and data.psp) files, rebuild the eboot.pbp. This in theory should give you 1.5fw (but it would just be reported as whatever firmware it was labelled up as).
I know people say you can't do this etc... but just look at all the exploits etc... people have found and all the wonderful work Dark_AleX and Booster and all the other great peeps on the scene have done.
And this is just like the Gran Turismo 4 situation on PS2, 1st you couldn't fit on a single layer DVD, then if you used a dual layer disc, you had to get it to use Opposite-Track-Path instead of the Parallel-Track-Path that the prog wanted to use. And it took a while but someone made a prog to read the files in the main GT4 data file and then someone made one where it could edit the file take out the movies and music and relink all the files, and a DVD-5 rip was born.
